There’s nothing different in general if you played resident evil 2 remake (from here on I will abbreviate it to RE2R) from steam or other game distributor’s other than the iCloud saves and the iCloud option in the main menu and settings, for console players of RE2R, The most noticeable settings is the graphics which you can adjust to your hearts content. Now the one constant inconvenience Is Mr X/the tyrant. In other ports of the game (mainly xbox, playstation and steam), anytime you entered a safe room or he lost sight of the player and ended his pursuit, he would roam the building trying to find you until he heard a gunshot or something that triggered I’m to go somewhere else. In this port, if you go into a safe room or he loses sight of you and gives up the pursuit, he stays right next to said safe room or stays in one place and that really ruins the flow of 1/3 of the game as he can gate-keep you from going to one place or getting out the safe room, forcing you to get hit and use a healing item or force you to restart to a far away save on hardcore. It doesn’t kill off the game but when it does happen (I.e all the time) it really hurts the flow. So to the people who ported this to apple and Capcom: could you fix this consistent inconvience as It would turn this from a great port, to a perfect port. Thanks, and drink water to stay hydrated.

This is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It is a 5/5 star game, nearly. Can only give the game a 4 star rating because of a really annoying, well-documented bug in which key items can disappear from the environment, or as in my case, the 2 spare locker keys in my inventory somehow turned into just 1 spare locker key. This happened over half-way through my second run, which is maybe the worst place to have to restart or load a recent save — the game is PERFECTLY paced for its 10ish hour length, in my opinion and extending that wasn’t something I wanted to do. For reference, this bug occurred right before the orphanage sequence on Claire B, and I had cleared the entire police department except for the final key items. The saving grace here is that an uninstall and re-install fixed the bug. This bug can happen to a number of key items, so players, be wary and rotate your saves! Other than this, I have some disappointment in the quality of the MetalFX upscaling in this title compared to Village. It’s good enough if your machine needs it, but if you can, I’d turn it off.

As someone who has played this game on the PS5, It didn’t really click for me and so stopped playing after around 5 hours. However, this version on iPhone runs exceedingly well, far better than I expected while still looking incredible. Of course the game is already amazing, and though it isn’t really the best without an external controller, with a Backbone controller it is far better. I see a lot of people not really caring that much for these types of games releasing on iPhone, but for me having an all in one device that can act as a phone, media player, film camera, and a pocketable console, that’s extremely cool and useful. If you don’t want to invest in a Steamdeck or similar products, this is a fantastic way to play these types of games, especially with the new iPhone 16 Pro. I hope more developers port their games to the iPhone with similar quality to this.
