What a difference a couple of years makes! Better app and, if you're old-school, a functioning website. Still a few glitches. As before, half the attempts that I make to scroll, I wind up opening an item description instead. Very annoying, but some of the blame lies with Apple’s way of registering screen touches. Searches for prior purchases don’t show all items on a particular day, so you have to dive in each time to see the full list, e.g. if you want to see what socks you bought when you also bought a bottle, some electrolyte chews, a jacket and a headlamp. Also, last time that I needed to update my payment method with a new CC, the app wouldn’t take it. I had to update on the website. Finally, in-stock items all of a sudden show out-of-stock then in-stock again. Weird. But overall a pleasure to use. The search filters work well for finding the stuff that I want to explore. Bravo

I love this app for what it is. It makes navigating REI’s vast collection of stock very easy. A few issues I have: 1. It doesn’t have dark mode I feel like this should be standard nowadays, as dark mode has been built into devices for years now. Even websites are easily able to support it now with CSS, and apps are intended to feel more native to the device, so when they don’t support dark mode it can be jarring. 2. A tap and hold doesn’t do anything special, but it prevents scrolling When scrolling through products if you were to tap and hold too long before scrolling, it won’t scroll. I understand this has to do with gestures and the app taking a tap and hold differently than a scroll, but—in this case—the tap and hold gesture doesn’t do anything special and it gives no indication that you’ve triggered a tap and hold that would prevent you from scrolling. I wouldn’t mind if the tap and hold gesture did something unique, like a quick view of the product. I feel like if I start to scroll, from a tap and hold, it should just start scrolling anyway though. It can be particularly annoying though, when you start the tap and hold, go to scroll, but you didn’t move your finger far enough—off of the item you started on—so when you lift it opens that item. The only way to cancel the tap and hold, is to move your finger to another item completely—which would make sense if I wasn’t trying to scroll. Small things, but it does make the app feel a little clunky at times.
Clean, easy, fast, & functional

Years of experience w/ this app & use it to spend hundreds of $$ (sometimes more) annually. It’s uncluttered w/ easy to access product descriptions adjacent specifications. Photos always high quality and quickly enlarge when tapped. Item search allows selection of > a dozen criteria together or independently, then sort. Love the sort-by-%-off feature, making bargain hunting super easy and fast. As a 40+ year REI member, it’s also useful to have purchase history: if I want to buy another of the same item, even years later, the app makes it easy to research size and other details, e.g., in recent sale on North Face backpacks, I found my past purchase > 3yrs ago & was able to compare old vs new product descriptions of the same model—very helpful! Especially notable that REI retains photos of items discontinued by the mfr. REI—you’ve nailed this app in every way. Thank you!!!
Please don’t change to be like the others!

I love your app just the way it is!! Adding a bunch of extra technology like bugging people about their cart or closely monitoring people currently on the website, bugging them to request help, etc. is a bad idea. If you ever think about doing these things, PLEASE ONLY CONSIDER MAKING THEM OPTIONAL and allowing people to opt out of any new things that might be irritating or objectionable. As an older person, I very much appreciate the way I can simply zip in or out of the app and nothing has changed. No emptied shopping cart, no changes to the Saved For Later part (except standard alerts about Out of Stock or Re-Stocked items or other inventory-related messages). I love being able to “drop the ball” and “pick it back up later,” because then I can feel comfortable about doing things late at night in bed, if I fall asleep, no problem. Keep up the great work REI!!
