I usually never review apps and if I do, I try to be as encouraging as I can be. I have been in HR for over 20 years and I feel this app isn’t living up to its potential. Logging in and doing the on-boarding paperwork is good just needs small tweaks here and there. Punching in and out and taking meal breaks needs some improvement. There really should be ways a company can make those activities their own, for instance: punching in and out just says “Punch” and punching out for break says “Meal Out” or something like that. There really should be 4 options to start the day. First option should be “Begin Shift” the meal breaks should be: “Begin Break” when you return from your break it should be “Return From Break” and then the fourth button should be: “End Shift”. And these options should be grayed out once they’ve been used for that day, so after you “Begin Shift” you shouldn’t be able to hit that button again. The breaks should also be made so the user can add the break time before you punch out, so you won’t be able to end your shift until you fill in the break times or if you didn’t take a break that day, you check a box for “no break” (which will show up on a report to the company and they can address the issue with the employee) and once the break times are satisfied, you’re allowed to “End Shift”. These don’t seem like huge changes but trust me, a lot of people using this app won’t be too app literate and these changes will save the payroll department time from correcting user errors.

While the overall interface is relatively nice, it takes me and all my coworkers a very long time for the app to load, especially me on my iPhone 6 (iOS 14). The animation that plays when the app opens takes a very long time to load and after using my fingerprint to log in, it takes even longer at times to get to the clock in page, if it doesn’t crash right there which is does at times. It actually takes so long that I typically will use my fingerprint to start the process before washing my hands before lunch and it’s typically not done in that time (>20 seconds, you know COVID and all), which would be tolerable if it didn’t often mean my phone typically will go to sleep before it loads, making me repeat the whole process. Additionally, there’s an annoying issue I have to account for in which once the “clock in” button loads, there’s a fairly significant loading time between clicking the button and it actually recording the clock. My first couple weeks at my job were riddled with clock errors from this issue and I now need to wait extra time on top of the unreasonable loading/animation time to make sure the clock is registered. All of this makes the process take a few minutes, but it’s incredibly frustrating to deal with several times every day. I would rather just note my clocks on a post it and punch it in on a calendar-like system daily, or just use a regular old punch card, it’s faster and easier, and while seeing the payment/tax information on the app is nice, everything about the clocking in/out on this app makes me despise it.

Not impressive, but better than others

I’ve had to use a couple other apps/companies for hour logging and I appreciate ADP. There’s not much to say about the app. I use it to clock hours and request time off, and it largely works. My company doesn’t use a lot of the features the company has, so I can’t judge those. There’s just one bugaboo that really frustrates me.I have to cover my front camera or face the phone to the ceiling because no matter how many times it gets updated for bug fixing, the facial recognition gets triggered randomly and if I let it confirm my face, it’ll kick me back to the home page. The only way to stop it is to tap when it’s trying, or let it fail and then tap cancel. That annoyance happens three to four times I use the app, every single time. Fix that annoyance and I’ll bump you to five stars.3/3/26 This app is still so annoyingly buggy. It’s still more convenient than using the website, but there are features on the site you can’t get on the app, and recently I have to try to open it three times before it will, and even then it won’t scroll unless I try for a good solid minute. It’s like it only drags what’s currently on the screen rather than actually scrolling. When it finally lets go and scrolls, you’ve gotten so annoyed that it scrolls past what you want and then you try to scroll down, but nope, it’s stuck again. Downgrading to 2.

App design looks nothing like the images
SquattingSamurai
I already wrote this review once, but just to reiterate: the app design looks nothing like the images. Everyone I know has the new design (like in the images), whereas mine is stuck on the old, what feels like 15 year old light blue and grey design, half of the buttons don’t work, UI doesn’t scale properly, and everything is super clunky. My web version looks fine, but going through the motion of pulling the web version every time is not a good solution. I reinstalled the app multiple times, and even reseat my app from within, following the advice of the developer who responded to my previous comment. That didn’t help either. I don’t know what the problem is or why it is acting this way. The “gear” icon in the top right corner doesn’t work, and there are no other settings that would allow me to switch the design. It’s just frustrating at this point. Could it be caused by some of the security settings on my phone? Does it need certain special permissions to load the new design? I know it’s not my organization because my coworkers have the new design already, so this is just frustrating at this point. I wish I could submit a screenshot here, but I can’t. Trying to reach the support directly is also a nightmare: the AI ChatBot doesn’t let you request a real agent, and the phone it gives you just takes to another automated system. Writing these reviews seems to be the only way of getting any feedback

Please try resetting the app. You can find this under your picture in the top right and then settings. JC
