I bought all new windows for my house with the help of GoodLeap. They have been very easy to work with and the 2 times i called them, i got a real person who answered the phone, which today anyway, hardly EVER happens. My questions were answered promptly and both people were polite and helpful. I have had no issues with them at all, and would definitely recommend them to my friends, family or anyone else. I didn’t know this until recently, but they also do home loans, so if i decide to do one of those this year they’ll be one of the first i call for help!

The person who wrote the review I just read brings up very valid points that Goodleap should address. Goodleap is know for predatory lending practices and being a deceptive company . There are a lot of complaints where people feel they were tricked into signing up for Solar panels and the loan, had high pressure sales tactics used against them, have been threatened with losing their homes because they put liens on people’s solar panels and they thinks it’s their houses, not explained the contract, etc. There are a disproportion amount of complaints for this not to be true. Some states have been involved and I believe there are some class action law suits along with individual lawsuits. It seems to me it would be easier to run a company that was honest and did the right thing than to always be dealing with turmoil and shadiness. Don’t bother with the customer service line of call or email and we’ll talk about it because they won’t. The Solar panels are over priced, a lot of people complain they don’t work, some say they signed a digital contract of x amount of pages but then more pages are mysteriously added, etc. With so many complaints Goodleap should try to be better and ask themselves why they have so many disgruntled borrowers. If your payment is one day late due to them not you they call and threaten you. What other company does that? None, if you’re late you pay a late fee and move on. No one calls you the day after you miss a payment. There’s a lot of other companies who will be honest willing to lend you money and not be stuck a head ache to deal with.

There is no option for making payments larger than the regular payment except for making a scheduled additional payment to be made on the regular payment date. However, if you don’t make the additional payment amount equal to or larger than the regular payment amount, you’re in jeopardy of them applying only the “additional” payment, thereby resulting in an underpayment and consequential penalties. Another issue is that they don’t always apply the payment on the scheduled payment date. Thus, a payment scheduled for a Friday may not be credited until the following Monday or even later if that Monday falls on a holiday. In this instance, they charge extra interest for the days between the payment date and the date that they credit the payment. It’s a very greedy practice. One that makes me wonder if it is even legal It seems like a very shady business practice.

Key potential benefits to me: 1. Easy setup (kind of) - I could not use my existing site login - app required a separate set up, which is confusing and should be unnecessary. I don't trust this setup2. Can make one off payments - I do this once a year and my loan is only for 2 more years so VERY minimal value there3. Appeared I could manage my auto payment in the app as there is an option to do so - HOWEVER the option to update is not accessible with no steps or notes as to why or how to actually use this feature 4. View statements if you're paperless. I prefer paper so this is slightly helpful.5. Can connect your solar panel system in order to see energy details in the app - as the other features noted above aren't very useful or functional for me I didn't even try this. I already have and enjoy the app used to track my solar panel usage etc. through the installerSummary: not a reason to have another app on my phone. Downloaded, leaving a review and will now uninstall. ThanksUpdate: I did reach out to Goodleap via phone and email and clarified the auto payment feature is not meant to be used as I expected. Auto payment is only for making the minimum payment. If you want to up your payment and make a bigger dent in your principal loan monthly you would have to log into the app every month a week before your due date and set an additional payment. In my opinion that's just a loan company discouraging customers from paying loans off early. Makes sense from a business standpoint, but as a customer, just set up a 2nd auto payment through your bank so you don't have to remember one more thing. I was also notified that the app is unique as it is "fully" owned and controlled by Goodleap, which the website is not, but the website is still valid and does require a separate login vs the app.
