The Hamilton Island App is available in English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. The app will automatically download in the phones default language. To use in a different language, you will need to change the default language on the phone.


This App requires a connection to either a Wi-Fi or cellular data network in order access the most up-to-date information. Some free Wi-Fi hotspots are located across the island for guests staying at any Hotel operated by HIE.

There are generally good cellular phone signals accessible from Telstra, Optus and Vodafone networks across the island, although guests should note that there are some isolated locations on the island that may have weak, or no cellular signal.

Room for improvement

Our room smelt musty as though the carpet was recently cleaned but not allowed to dry thoroughly. Otherwise the room was well cleaned. The app for Hamilton Island needs an urgent update. The advertisement for the island when we booked was that kids eat free. The two restaurants listed to provide this did not have the listed menu. When we asked why we were advised that this was due to COVID-19. COVID has been around for nine months and still no one has updated the app? A lack of shade e.g. umbrellas continues to be an issue which has not been corrected, even though this was an issue l initially identified twenty years ago, well before the current skin cancer awareness of today.

Wonderful place to be!! Planning to come back already. We stayed in one of the Bungalows and could not ask for more. Plenty food choice on the island and activities for everyone. Only advise is to book dinner and tours in advance. Also staff at reception and activities desk could be a little more enthusiastic as not only they live on little slice of paradise but if it was not for us to be there I’m sure jobs would be different. Directing us to the app when we took our time and lined up to ask for advise was not very pleasant. HI is a must I think for everyone!!

Do Not Order Pizza through the app

Ordered pizza from the Pizzeria through the app as we could not get through the phone line. Did not receive a confirmation of order, however our credit card was charged. Had to call the Pizzeria after many attempts to confirm if the order came through. Finally the Pizzeria confirmed that ‘this issue has been happening a lot as they do not control the all and our order did NOT come through’. The two options were to manually order over the phone and charge us twice with the first payment having to be refunded (over 5-10 business days). We ended up just cancelling our order completely and now still have to wait 5-10 business days for a refund. What a complete joke.
