We want to make the best apps in the world...ever. Maybe a bit ambitious but we want the Argos app to be one of your 'must haves' and that means we need your help and ideas. Nothing is too big or too small so please feel free to go nuts on your suggestions. We do love a challenge and our developers are workaholic demons (a couple might actually be demons) so please get in touch via email@example.com we will read them, in fact its someone's actual job to read them and they like being busy (and employed).
This time around we found out what happens when Dark Mode is just too dark. So dark in fact we found this bug sat in a room with the lights off, listening to Joy Division, debating who traumatised kids more, Perrault or the Brothers Grimm, all while planning its annual trip to Whitby.
Or… you just couldn’t see the dark bits against a dark background… never stopped Ad Reinhardt but we figured we should fix it.
Ratings and Reviews
Five stars, just the app update notes alone! It’s refreshing to see a few developers that still care and don’t just copy/paste a generic and meaningless placeholder text as “update note”.
Seriously though, Argos app used to be a mess. But over the past few years, it’s become better and better.
One thing that I would love to see added in the future: Wishlist sync between different devices via iCloud, and without the need to log into Argos account. I mostly browse using iPad, add items to my wishlist without logging in, then go to the store to buy them. Would be great if the items I’ve picked on iPad synced on my iPhone.
Lied about warranty, caused issues to disabled public
If I could give them less than one star I would. I brought a laptop from argos (paid a hell of a lot for it) and it came with a one year warranty. I called - spent 4 hours on the phone and web chat and was told I had to take it in to them. I took it in- spent 2 hours in que talking to an advisor and they refused to take it- fobbing me off with a random argos email. I was then told on email to take it back AGAIN over email the next day. I spent an hour standing talking to someone because the email manager hadn’t sent the info over as told. I was also stated I would have a two week wait without it. I hen I went to sign the forms it turned out that was a lie and it can take over a month!! For a repair! I was offered a replacement and then told actually; I couldn’t have one because they didn’t stock it anymore. They refused to give me the other version that cost 20£ more. Absolutely disgusted. I mentioned over email I was disabled and struggled getting to and standing in store and was told it would be a fast drop off. I was there over an hour, and now am left in pain thanks to the joy of argos. Lied about warranty info- wasted two days of my life, lied about many other things, and now my company is without a laptop (possibly for over a month) DON’T BUY FROM THEM. I’m now looking into legal action. It shouldn’t have to come to this with a known retailer.
New toys are great, but consistent experience first!
For a company with such potential, they let the guy with the talent write the app updates! Why not let them loose on an Instagram account - oh no that’s locked?! Facebook Page - nope?! - are they connected to the app - nope?! Does it allow notifications - ummm nope?! but it does have it AR - ummm yes?
As for the app, forget the AR, build a consistent experience for your customers before doing shiny stuff and whizz bang type stuff. How can the Argos Card be so good and this so bad.
Overall, I sincerely hope the Sainsbury’s investment starts to make Argos a consistent brand because at the moment it’s so busy looking at the smaller details it’s getting left behind on the bigger picture - in quick changing times this app needs a good working over before going Oooooh!! about AR.
