All aboard Seatfrog, the first app ever to let you upgrade your tickets, swap your journey times and now buy tickets for a massive range of destinations.
Think you have to be rich to sit in First Class? Think again. We can help you upgrade from a standard seat for as little as £10, just by entering our auction. You place your bid and, if you win, we switch you to a fancier seat for much less than you’d pay on the day.
You can also buy instant upgrades, which are still dead cheap compared to the asking price.
We are partnered with Great Western Railway, Avanti West Coast, TransPennine Express, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway and London North Eastern Railways. So whether you're travelling to London, Leeds, Cardiff, Liverpool, York, Manchester, Cleethorpes, Bristol, or Edinburgh you can download Seatfrog and buy your ticket with us and why not have a go at bidding on an upgrade to really travel in style.

THE MEDIA
- "From time-to-time, we see companies tackle problems in a way that makes you wonder why it wasn't done long ago. Seatfrog gives us that feeling." Jon Russell, Techcrunch
First of all I think you need to understand what this app is for. This is a way for Virgin and LNER to offload spare capacity in 1st class to people who wouldn’t have bought those seats otherwise. This is perfect for those who travel occasionally for work but are obliged to buy a standard class ticket because of their company’s travel expenses policies. There is NO guarantee you will be able to upgrade (I’ve managed it about 50% of the time) and it doesn’t work at the weekend. So if you are paying for your own ticket and can’t bare to travel standard class then buy a 1st advance ticket. This app isn’t for you...If however you are travelling anyway (probably for work) and are happy to pay a little bit extra (of your own money) for more comfort and a cup of tea etc.. then this is brilliant! If you don’t get an upgrade, well no one has lost anything. The app itself works well, it sometimes struggles to find your booking through the booking reference number but you can now just put the departure time of the train in and add the ticket manually, which takes a second. Just make sure you put the right train in. The staff on the trains are very familiar with Seatfrog and there is never a problem in that regard. So, to sum up, a great little app and a great service. Glad I found it!

Hi John, thanks for the 5 star review, it's great to know that you've had some success in bidding for upgrades. Don't forget we now offer upgrades on GWR routes and services too!
Error prone UI & unfriendly customer service
elinesca
I’ve had a back and forth chain of emails with customer service where they blame me for the terrible ux and errors in the booking times. I paid for two trips going the wrong way. One was my mistake, because I stupidly thought the app was smart enough to know the location I was booking from but had it in reverse from a booking two weeks earlier and the app didn’t reset after this. I noticed immediately but there’s no undo or change available so you are now stuck with the ticket. After this, I corrected it, bought a new ticket with the correct destination, and set up the action for the return. You can be sure I made efforts not to make a mistake. But the system changed my time from the afternoon to the morning, the auction went through, I wan, and now I had yet another incorrect ticket. Customer service had no empathy and told me it was my fault and that they would do nothing about it. Beware, it is great went everything works, but if it doesn’t, they wash their hands off you and pocket your money.
Great in theory substandard support

The concept is great but the support is terrible, they don’t state that Amex isn’t supported but their system doesn’t validate the 15 digit card length, even using a debit Mastercard I authenticate in my banking app but the seatfrog app doesn’t validate the card number and fails, after several rounds of uninstall and reinstall the app it seems that I’ve exhausted the ‘skill’ of their business and after a couple of weeks of nothing I’ve uninstalled the app and given up. With the reviews I’ve ready it’s probably for the best! I would avoid this app**and the dev response is not helpful either, this step was done, it’s obviously a problem your side which from research loads of people are having**
Developer Response
Hi there, we support Amex, Mastercard and Visa payment types. Once your card details are entered we'll connect to your bank and you'll need to go through the card authorisation processes you have set up with them. If you're still having problems with this step it may help to contact your bank.
Excellent service really let down by app
RJohnsonReviews
I have used Seatfrog loads over the last few years, on regular journeys between London and Yorkshire, where it really pays to get an upgrade because of the food, drink and all together better travelling environment that LNER provides. The app has never been amazing, and for a user of the VoiceOver screen reader like me, One has to use a bit of initiative to find the right information and complete a purchase. Of late however, things have got markedly worse. A week ago I couldn’t select an auction with the right date, and this seemingly having been resolved, I now can’t enter a bid price. in response to the first issue Seatfrog said that there was no issue at their end, and then didn’t really engage after I provided screenshots demonstrating what I had experienced. Time will tell whether they respond to my most recent issue.
We've updated the trip page for your Secret Fare bookings to make it easier to view journey info, receipts and of course get to the barcode quickly.
