A few days ago I posted a review highly critical of the app and also of the often apparently anodyne responses of the Sonova team to the many negative reviews. Since posting the reviews I have been contacted by the team who have worked to resolve my connectivity issues. I can only report that their responses have been helpful and prompt.I still have some reservations about the app - lack of a default that holds personalised settings is one - but I think my problems and those of many others is down to lack of instructions regarding the app. For example I spent ages thinking I could only pair the right aid, before realising the L and R Bluetooth settings are done through the app. The R setting in Bluetooth is for streaming. Better training/explanation at point of purchase would be of help. My one star (would have been zero) was down to the team’s perceived responses. The 4 stars are down to my personal experience of their help.

A new App in July 2022
QA check
I was happily using the old App when along came a new one. It’s great that there is a new app but it would have been nice if there had been a message (email) to explain to existing users (forewarn) what was about to happen and most importantly what users need to do so they can continue to control their hearing aids via the App. When I launched the App the other day the change came as a big surprise and I wasn't best placed (doing other things) to fully take in the various messages about the new App. I didn’t have my log in details so couldn’t log in when prompted, in fact I couldn’t actually remember if I’d ever logged in previously! Several days later when launching the App to adjust the volume on my hearing aids I find they’re not connected to the App! I then miss out on parts of a live presentation that’s already in progress! Having returned home and can concentrate on the matter in hand, I find that the only way to link my hearing aids to the App is to: delete the App and reload it, and then re-link my hearing aids by following the instructions. At some point I also logged in to the App, I have no idea whether logging in is essential or not as I can see that the App can be used without logging in.

Annoying Phonak TV transmitter/hearing aids
snookie368
EDIT: upon further investigation (connecting to my old 1Mii tv transmitter) it would appear the range problem is with the hearing aids not the transmitter. How can I increase hearing aid range? Purchased Phonak hearing aids together with a Phonak TV transmitter. Hearing aids (after tweaking Bluetooth streaming so it didn’t drain hearing aid batteries in double quick time) seem okay - although I’m not blown away!My main criticism is the rubbish Phonak TV transmitter. Although the range is quoted as up to 15 meters I am lucky if I achieve 5 meters in the same room with no obstacles. Even at 5 meters it’s unstable and will switch off in one hearing aid if I turn my head. I have tried getting power via the USB connected to TV and the mains, connected by optical cable and then audio out but all permutations result in just a 5 metre range. My old setup with a cheap 1Mii transmitter and AirPods provided a much more reliable connection and a range that reached every room in our bungalow.

No stars is what I would give this
Saucy Sazzle
So I have just upgraded my NHS hearing aids to Phonak. Mostly for the Bluetooth connectivity. I’m pretty good with Tech. I downloaded My Phonak hoping for a seamless connection…..NOPE. This app is a total fail. I can connect the Lumity hearing aids to my phone but I can use them to make calls or stream. I happened to read in another terrible review that the had connected without using the app. So I deleted the app and just connected via Bluetooth. Voila, it works. Unfortunately like this I can not use the remote control to personalise setting as you can only do this in the app. I suspect these hearing aids will be going back and I will try a different brand NOT SONAK. I’m not paying £3,500 for products where the manufacturers treat customers with such contempt.UPDATE: The following day I reinstalled the MyPhonak app and now everything appears to be working. So my advice to anyone struggling is set up the Bluetooth first make sure that is working then install the app. Still giving only one star as the instructions are abysmal. I spent hours trying to work this out and I’m tech savvy.

Hi, please note the names R-Phonak or L-Phonak hearing aids is for audio (calls/streaming). The two Bluetooth devices LE_R- Phonak and LE_L- Phonak are for the myPhonak app. They will automatically connect when the app is opened. Are you able to see all the above 3 devices in the phone's Bluetooth list?We recommend you to follow the reset steps given in the below link.https://product-support.phonak.com/s/article/How-to-repair-connection-issues-with-the-myPhonak-app-on-iPhone?language=en_USIf the problem still persist then please contact us at https://product-support.phonak.com/s/contactsupport We will try to evaluate the issue and get back to you.
