The App’s Fine, It’s the GPs

I almost feel cruel writing this. This isn’t a review against the development of the app or its functionality, as I am unfortunately incapable of experiencing most of the app. It’s about the lack of integration from GP practices. My hope is this helps push Welsh Govt to force GP practices to sort themselves out. I can use the app to order repeat prescriptions and see my NHS number. That’s it. That’s all my practice uses it for. Can’t see any of my health records at all, can’t book appointments meaning the 8am rush (one of the very things this app was designed to help mitigate) is still a thing. Aside from ordering an asthma inhaler one every few weeks, it’s a waste of space on my phone. And it’s an absolute shame because I KNOW it has the capacity to be much, much more than that. My GP practice however apparently either doesn’t have the time, capacity or simply can’t be bothered to utilise it. It completely spits in the face of the Welsh Govt’s wishes for it to be a “digital front door” to healthcare.

Absolute disgrace of an App

UPDATE: and here we are again back at this disgrace of an app in OCTOBER 2024Still no change with the new update to those of us that can’t use it. I now have an added issue to the one listed below as in, I no longer have the email address registered. I can’t register a new mail address so I’m stuck in the 10th circle of hell with an app I can no longer use and being trapped in chronic pain and no way of getting my prescriptions into my GP surgery for repeat as they won’t take them over the phone. You should be ashamed but I doubt itI have used MHOL for 20 years, you would think they would be able to migrate your login details to the new system but NO, they want photo ID & a video confirming it’s ME. Absolutely not. The NHS cannot even get appointments sent out on time, if at all and loose notes frequently, why would I give more personal information to their APP than they deserve. I’m absolutely furious, I am ill cannot access my surgery online for repeat meds, or test results and have absolutely no way of contacting anyone for any IT support. Their HELP section stinks & sends you around the 10th circle of Hell. Should feel ashamed to leave patients like this. UPDATE;( WE ARE NOW IN AUGUST & STILL, THERE HAS BEEN NO FURTHER UPDATE FOR THOSE OF US THAT HAVE HAD NO MIGRATION OF OUR DETAILS FROM THE OLD MHOL SITE. YOU WANT OUR PICTURE ID, WHEN YOU CAN’T EVEN COMPETENTLY MIGRATE AN IT SYSTEM FOR ALL USERS, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE FULL LOGIN DETAILS & NHS ID & THEN EXPECT US TO TRUST YOU WITH OUR SENSITIVE DATA. NOT IN A MONTH OF SUNDAYS. WRITTEN IN CAPS LOCK BECAUSE I HAVE TO LEAVE ONE STAR & DEVELOPERS CLEARLY DO NOT TAKE ANY NOTICE OF REVIEWS & JUST THROW OUT A CHEAP APP TO APPEASE THEIR CUSTOMERS NOT BOTHER TO GIVE A DECENT APP USER EXPERIENCE

Frustrating app to use. Will not work when ip protection is on. Needs to have facilities to contact, all health professionals within the group practice, at all times for GP and specialist nurses. App should enhance and improve access not hinder. Telephone service is cumbersome and frustrating when it hangs up without notice. So an app should circumvent this, but being unable to book diabetic, respiratory and other specialties nurse led services is frustrating. A better dashboard for communication and direction to treatment is needed. Being able to leave a message for someone to read and coordinate a reply would improve outcomes. I’ve tried online and by telephone to get help for my care. Waiting for 20 minutes or more to speak to a human who cares what you want, is frustrating. Please improve accessibility to all medical professionals within the group.

I've been using My Health Online for a little while now. At first, it wasn't working at all, but then it started to work well. Today, I received a note stating that my prescription will now be managed through this app. I must say, I'm pleasantly impressed by the app. It was super easy to log in to my NHS account, and all the information on the app was accurate and clearly presented. My only complaint would be the overall aesthetics of the NHS Welsh stuff in the app; it could be better, i.e, some of the pop up parts required you to scroll and the ‘continue’ button wasn’t visible at first (a minor issue really). However, it serves its purpose and is easy to read and navigate. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
