Could use improving but what they do have is good.

What they have on the app works good. I love the quick transfer and use it several times a day but,.. Wish they’d give colour options though as I’m not fond of the colour or styling. (ANZ app is much nicer, very sleek looking). Pls allow us to colour & customise, on the inside and outside of the app. There is also an issue with the pic at the top, it zooms right in so you can’t put a nice pic up (a pic of a cat will just show it’s eye for eg) the sample pics they have there are also very gloomy. anz has way more banking options on their app but still really well laid out & easy to use. pls take some pointers. For new users make sure you log out of the app every time or you’ll get “issues”. And also the constant pop up at the bottom of the screen about the helicopter is very annoying!!! I am sorry I can’t afford to donate, pls remove it from my app it’s just aggravating and I’m constantly clicking on the x to get rid of it.

App is pretty good. Unintuitive to enable quick login

There’s another comment in a previous reply from the developer which was a game-changer for me. I had no idea why I was having to manually enter my login details so often suddenly; turns out there’s a setting to enable biometric (Face ID etc) login... but that’s seemingly (and inexplicably) only accessible while logged out. Luckily, I’m basically always logged out, I guess. The login/log out process is the biggest headache with this app. Even once I found out how to enable Face ID to auto login, returning to the app after a few minutes logs you out and you have no way of triggering Face ID to re login; you need to key in that big old password to get in again. Ironically, if you choose to retrieve the password stored by Apple in your keychain... Apple then prompt you for your Face ID. The solution in this case is to hard close the app and re-open it, which then automatically checks your face and instantly logs you in. This is all a big distraction from the fact the app itself is slick, really well designed, and clearly has had a lot of thought put into it. I guess there’s some banking regulations at play here that are not customer friendly for login, and that ends up spoiling the experience overall. If it weren’t for login hassles I’d mark this a 4 or 5 star.

Getting better but enhanced functionality would be great

Westpac One is starting to grow on me, but it still lacks some basic functionality. The first is a Secure Mail function, which is standard across most NZ banks, and increasingly important in the time of COVID-19. Rather than waiting on hold for hours during a lockdown or when you can’t reach a branch, it would be great to send a secure email for assistance and then wait 2-3 or even 5 days for a response. This would allow the bank to better triage customer service requests, keep customer frustration down and avoid testy phone conversations with customer service representatives (the ones I’ve dealt with have been excellent, thanks Westpac), and end up with better time usage for everyone. The second functionality I’d like to see is the ability to save the details for international payees. Having to input this data every time I want to send money to a family member overseas is a real pain. It would be great to save the details like we can for NZ payees. Thanks for your consideration.
