The most recent update (v3.1.3) crashes much more frequently on my iPhoneSE (2020–fully updated to iOS 17.5.1) than any prior version. If I open the app and tap the search bar, I MIGHT be able to type a few letters before the app crashes. If I do manage to get the search to behave, it often crashes if I search my custom phrase and don’t use one of the suggested phrases/search terms that appears. Occasionally the app crashes for me immediately after it starts to load. If I am able to search (usually means opening the app, going to another app and then coming back to the Ace app), attempting to choose/switch stores is also fairly slow, taking several seconds just to load the button to perform the action.

However, when the app gets over the crashing fits, it is great! Search produces clean results, you can filter by in-stock items at your nearby stores, item preview images are fluid, and all the necessary information is available on the item pages without opening 10 other links to view documents. The only improvement I can think of off-hand would be a “quick add” button on the search results to immediately add an item to your cart so you don’t have to open the item page to do it, especially if you want/need multiple types of a similar item like spray paints or adhesives or a weed eater and some extra string.

The app itself works relatively smoothly - sometimes slow, and changing pick-up store to check for availability is clunky at best. The big problem is that after placing online order for pick up and charging you (in my case through ApplePay), about 1/3 of the items in my orders get cancelled - I assume bcs they actually do not have the item in stock at the store even though it shows available. And it takes quite a while to notify you - so beware if you head to the store. Last order the cxl msg was two hours after ordering. So though I did not get “order ready” msg, I assumed ok bcs it had been so long and went to store…and found out item was cxld. Here is the WORST part: They do not immediately refund your payment for the item that was not actually available! It’s not like a pending hold that they release - they charge immediately for your entire order and it takes about a week for a credit for the cxld item to show up in your payment account. Don’t know if it is ApplePay that is the issue, but being out of funds for a week after being charged for items that are not in stock as shown (and ordered) in app is not acceptable.
