Push Notifications Do Not Work

Updating my review. As below my packages even those that are out for delivery to me do not appear in the app. Only if I can find the actual tracking number and enter it can I see any information. But that entry does not get retained. I can get a text message update if I enter my phone number but no update from the app.

Fortunately I have a 3rd party app that does send push updates once a tracking number is entered. This app is virtually useless to me.

Previous review : Unless I log in to the app and select the package that is being shipped to me I get no notifications even though I had previously set a general push notification for all such packages. I have to manually add the settings for each package. I do get text notifications once I manually add my number but no app push notifications. Also once notifications were set for the shipment there used to be a bell icon next to the package, now no such indication is shown so you really never know whether the notification status was actually set for that package. Prior to a recent update this worked much better but not as good as other comparable apps.

The app wouldn’t let me change settings

My son ordered a computer while he was staying here, but had to leave on a trip before it arrived. He had it delivered to the house, but nobody was home to accept the delivery. I signed the back of the door tag and left details on where to put the package as instructed on the tag, but when making a delivery attempt the following day, the driver didn’t even look at the back of the tag and left again with the package. Calling the 800 number gave me few options, and the robot receptionist wanted me to pick up the package an hour away within a certain two-hour time frame. Thanks to flooding and a business closure, neither of the two FedEx drop off locations in my town are open, and when I tried to choose one 10 miles away, the app would not let me.

I finally repeated “talk to a person” often enough that the automated service connected me with someone who could contact the driver and give instructions for delivery, and the driver returned later that second day and left the package, along with the door tag containing my signature. But why have the app if I can’t do that from there? All I can do is track the package and the rest of the app seems to be there for show.

(Also, if I say “talk to a person” while in the automated voice system, that means that the choices offered there are insufficient and I need human interaction. Don’t keep pushing me to choose menu options.)

Give us a day or two to

Update November 5: I’m downgrading this to a one because it will not remember the notifications. That is now broken. Every time I open the window to track a package, I get a pop-up asking me if I want notifications. Every. Single. Time. Even if I have repeatedly put that I want to be texted once it’s delivered. This app is bad enough, please stop breaking the few things that do work!

Original review: The app is great but we’re forced to take the new update instantly. This caused problems during Hurricane Helene. I live just outside of Asheville, North Carolina; Google the devastation. I updated all of my apps the night before the storm hit, assuming I would lose electricity for a few days. The first several days I had to walk 2.25 miles to get a cell signal. When I was finally able to get minimal data, I couldn’t use my FedEx app because I needed to have the latest version that I later discovered had been released that morning. As I could barely get any data, I couldn’t get the updated version. I was desperately trying to get my packages to a location that actually had a road. (Not exaggerating) About a week later, I was able to update the app and the very next day, was locked out again because I didn’t have the latest version that was released that morning. FedEx, please please please give us a week to update before you cut us off. You really let us down during the devastating storm.
