Imoroved but needs more work
Apart from the constant NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE when you try to track a train or bus. This app, old and new cannot correctly tell how much money you have on your card. I continuously get insufficient fare when I have money on my card. The app does not even update and correct itself when you switch between cards. I had $5 on my card today and it kept ringing insufficient fare to my embarrassment, so I exited the bus. I addd $20 and it showed I had $25. You cannot trust the app to tell you the correct balance your card. Old and NEW
It also tells you error occurred and it cannot add Funds at this time and to try again, only to add more money and realize the failed attempt was successful.
This continuous signing in within the app after I have signed into the app to perform actions within the app is ridiculous, waste of time and horribly annoying. I do like however the train/bus tracker is within the app although I would recommend an
‘Update/Refresh’ button be added to make it more useful and give travel times like the tracker sites.
This app charges my card but doesn’t add transit value. The address has been fixed, card updated, and everything. Tried purchasing a 7 day pass. Charged me the $28 but no pass. Tried buying $5 in value. Same thing. Got the pending charge for the week pass dropped and made sure all info was correct. Tried purchasing $5 in value again. Checked my bank account and it charged me $15. What the hell, Ventra? People’s hours have been cut at work. Many have been laid off. It’s a pandemic. You can’t be messing with people’s money like that, dawg. They’re pending charges that will drop, but that’s liquid cash that I do not have at the moment. I need that dough. Ventra knows they are not a luxury - they are a necessary part of our daily life many cannot do without. They know we cannot function without them if we have to get around this city on a budget, which we’re ALL on right now. Customer service is useless, if you can even get through to them. The app and company itself are both major disappointments.
Seems like the new update was released way too soon. It’s only connected to the server once in the several days since I upgraded, regardless of whether I’m connected to wifi or cellular data. Even the “can’t connect to the server” message takes way too long to come up.
It looks like it has some good new features, but there’s no point in having those if you can’t use them. Until the server connectivity issue is resolved, the update makes the app useless. I now have to download a third party app in order to find out when the L trains are due to arrive.
