This app has every functionality I could need, and none of the fluff. I think it’s perfect for journaling as well as for writing long form text. it feels very minimalist and not cluttered with additional buttons and options and settings; I have no complaints, as this app is incredibly user friendly; I’m impressed and very happy with it. Things I love:1) It integrates smoothly with all the Apple iOS stock apps. I do a lot of voice memos as audio journals, and I love that you can record straight in the app and add photos and videos too.2) You can select multiple entries at once and bulk-organize your entries into different journals really easily. There are only a couple refinements that I would appreciate, including: 1) being able to backdate entries with less clicks (I often write entries retroactively), 2) being able to attach files like a voice memo from the Journal app (currently you have to go into Voice Memos, click share, and share to the journal from there). A potential improvement is that the automatic journaling suggestions so far have not been very relevant, but maybe I just need to put in more entries before it can learn to suggest more relevant prompts). Note: other journaling apps have the ability to add hashtags, but honestly that introduces a lot of clutter and too much personalization, and the level of personalization it offer offers is perfect right now. I hope the developers do not fall into the trap of adding more and more functionalities and clutter that a few people use.
Super fun and cool, just not as good as most other writing apps
WritingWithGlowsticks472
I really do enjoy writing in this, it just has a few issues that may not apply to most users, but it does for me. So, I am aspiring to be a writer, and I thought it would be cool to try using this app. It’s super cool and really good, just has a few issues that I’m willing to overlook but would really love to see these differences: 1, I like it when you tap the writings, it extends, but it only does that for smaller amounts of writings; I’d like it if it did that for larger ones too. 2, I’d love it if the pictures that I can submit, I’d love to edit which part of the picture is used, and where it is submitted. I think it’s cool and looks like a book cover, but most of the time, I have the perfect picture but it only shows part of it, and it doesn’t work. 3, (last one) I don’t think this app lets me change my words’ font, and I think it’d be cool if I could customize that sort of thing, like background or font and stuff. BTW, number three is not super important, just my small requests. But I really do love this app, I’m not much of a person who likes to document my day or think about it, I like to be more creative and fun with what I write. So, anyway, hope that if you get this app, you enjoy it. I think it’s super cool, again, just those small requests that would def brighten up my day. *looks up at all that I wrote* Dang, I talk a lot…
Detox again
Morioop
Okay, I haven't written anything for a long time. I'm trying to detox again for I don't know how many times in my life. I feel pretty good today. This morning I had me a protein shake and went bike riding. Came back home, rested, cleaned up some of the house, ate me a good meal, watched some TV, and I read a verse from the Bible which inspired me very much. From the sixth of Psalm. Yes, it was very motivating. I pray to God that he may grant me the strength to get through the day, tomorrow, and forever. I wanna beat this drug and alcohol thing once and for good. I always try and then after a while I fall back, never giving myself a chance. I always wanna, if I go a while without doing anything, I wanna celebrate, and if something bad news comes my way, I wanna celebrate too. So I gotta stop doing that. I need to celebrate by praying to God and going to church and reading the Bible. God bless all my family. I think about Alejandrina. God forgive me if I hurt her feelings, if things didn't go her way, if we couldn't get along the way we're supposed to. But Lord, you know what's right. I pray to the Heavenly Father, God, that you send somebody in my life that I can be happy with. Thank you, Lord, for everything you have done for me. I am totally blessed. There's no reason why I should be unhappy, but sometimes I do, and I think that probably comes from my past. I don't know. But Lord, help me to forget my past. Help me to forget all the bad things that I've done in the past. Take away all negativity from my mind, Lord Heavenly Father, Lord God Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.
Promising But Fledgling

There are aspects of Apple’s Journal app that I love. The first is the ability to add multiple journals, enabling me to segregate my writing according to my interests. For me, that’s traditional journaling - just letting my thoughts flow about whatever is going on in my life. But there’s also the hot topics in my life, which for me are global issues, hiking, technology and a memoir of sorts. The latter is taking form of essays about parts of my past that get my attention or that I think may be entertaining or instructive to someone. (Who? I’m still working that out.) I also love that I can file a journal entry in more than one journal. How did I get interested in hiking? That’s related to both hiking and my memoir. Also, I’ve devised a set of journals that represent their status: idea, writing, close (to done) and published. It’s like adding another attribute, and has been very handy for focusing my writing activity. Sometimes I’m in the mood to refine. (Open the Close journal.) Sometimes I want something new to spend a couple of hours on. (Open the Idea journal.) What I don’t like about Journal is that is still feels immature. Formatting, such as for bullets, seems primitive. Sync’ing between my iPad and my iPhone is slower than other apps, like Photos, and the related settings appear to reflect that. “Ya get what ya pay for”, I tell myself when I see these things. Will Apple, with only an indirect return on this investment, step up to make it stronger? Time will tell.
