Just bought a roomba for the first time in many years since one of the early models and I am thoroughly impressed with how much not only the robot has improved but the app as well. Very happy with my combo 405 robot and the app as we’ve been using it for about two months now. The mapping of the house is accurate and easy to adjust making cleaning specific areas easy depending on my needs. The app has been getting frequent and regular updates that includes new features that I have really enjoyed. The routine being displayed in real time on the lock screen and the new detailed list with estimated cleaning times and pad washes etc has been a nice edition. I love that there is a page letting you know when you should replace certain parts. The app has had a few hiccups with the roomba losing connection a few times but it’s no big deal. I feel that the estimates for changing things like the pads specifically could be better since it’s based on routines which depending on the size of area the routine may differ largely. This means larger areas that are the equivalent of one or two rooms still only counts as one routine. I feel that if replacing the pads was based on how many feet it has cleaned rather than routines it would be better but again that’s no big deal and just being picky.
Very nice roomba robotic vacuum cleaner

This is a very nice idea for those of us who don’t have a lot of time to spend on doing house chores like vacuuming the carpets and keeping up with the dogs hair it makes sense for it to be able to do that task, and I just wish that it had a bigger dust collector bin so that I don’t have to clean it out every 1/4 of one room but it’s just a small vacuum cleaner. so I would have to say that if you were just going to use it for a quick spot cleaning it would probably work out better than having to drag out a big vacuum and or broom and dust pan. I have just one problem with it is that it gets lost and then I have to put it back on the charger base so that it can recalculate the rest of what it’s supposed to be doing. So that is a big issue with it, it does work great but it needs more improvements made to how it see’s things in it’s path and certain things it just keeps trying to crawl over instead of it trying to go around them. Other than those things I like it, it works well and it helps me to keep things a little bit cleaner and more comfortable in my house. I hope that this helps you out.
Very poor app

This app is surprisingly bad. The load times are awful. The app takes much longer than it should to open. The home page takes way too long to load. Cleaning history takes too long to load. The “routines” have no way to edit them once they’re created. I have to delete it then recreate it if I want to edit the cleaning level. So many other problems. Once I’ve clicked the “map” from the Home Screen then the robot is on the dock but apparently didn’t finish cleaning I have two options of “resume” and “end now” even though it’s charging? Doesn’t it resume on its own once it’s done charging? So many issues. This app does not deserve 4+ stars. UPDATE: This is still the worst app I’ve ever used. I’m a software engineer and it amazes me how bad this app is. Load times are terrible! I tell the roomba to goto a different room to clean and for some reason I needs to goto a separate room and “map” then it can go to the room I told it too. Even though nothing in my rooms haves changed and it should have a map already saved. It gets stuck on just about anything. If I give it the wrong look it randomly will decide to get stuck or not find its way home. It’s a gamble if it finds its way home. I could make a drinking game out of betting on if it finds its way home! Honestly, I’m impressed at how bad this software is. I’m completely confused at the 4.8 stars. Honestly, people must be just hitting 5 stars to make it stop asking you to rate the app, because there’s no other possible explanation.
Awful. Old app was much better.

This app is terrible, and I have thoroughly went through the resources. If the robot messes up the map, I don’t have an option to restore a previous map. Just delete it and have it start over, which is annoying because with my dogs and kids, I can’t just clear everything out of the way every 3 days when it gets confused. I can’t evaluate what it thinks is an obstacle to be able to tell it that it isn’t and so it should clean it, therefore it won’t clean the edges of my dog crates like my old J7 would. The way that I have to modify the map is awful, combining rooms and splitting them, then having to make sure the settings for the room are changed back, and I cannot just have the robot do a quick map run if I changed around the furniture in a room - instead I have to wait for it to explore every room and hope that it doesn’t screw up the map since I won’t be able to go back to a different version. The “routines” don’t make sense, and there doesn’t seem to be any guide on how to use them well. If I don’t select to include the furniture, it seems to just avoid them. The old app had the option to “clean everywhere” which was cleaning and a map run, or just the room as it was already mapped, and it was great to have those options. I could go on and on, but overall my opinion is that this new app is trash that should be thrown out and start over - maybe using the old app for inspiration.
