Notification fatigue (New bug October 2018)
December 2020 - their backend service appears to be down and as a result the garage is offline. Any modern service should have a service up/down status indicator but not Aladdin Connect. You never know if it’s the app, your router, ISP, or Aladdins servers. Low quality software at best.
October 2018 - I have v3.1 and it didn’t notify any of the registered users/devices when the door was opened/closed via remote or wall panel. Once I used the app to open the door the alerts starting showing again. Seems like they still have notification bug to work out.
February 2021 - Garage was offline for a week. Maybe that’s how long it takes for their engineers to notice their service is offline. Dunno. My bet is they outsourced their work and not paying them enough to care.
This app doesn’t have a way to customize alerts. Every door open/close generates a new notification which results in notification fatigue. I stop caring, get annoyed, disable it entirely. Please make notification / alerts customizable. I don’t need to see 10 notifications a day about my garage when it’s opened or closed. Make it customizable so it only notifies during certain time frames, if it stay open too long, etc.
Alao, rules doesn’t work at all. Have a rule to notify me if door is left open for 5minutes. The door was open for 9minutes but no notification. This app is seriously amateur hour material....

In the future there will be an update for notification flexibility. If you were having connection issues (ex. WiFi down) this could have caused a delay in your rules and notifications. If you are still experiencing any types of issues, please reach out to us at 1-866-599-4995.
Installation was easy; I followed the video step by step.
Set the app up and got the door to open. Then the app continued to show my door opening and would not allow me to close it. I figured there was a glitch so I unhooked everything and deleted my door and started from scratch. Again easy, up until the sensor this time.. it would not connect to Bluetooth. Several attempts, I held the left square until it turned blue then kept pushing the button on the sensor and at some point it connected to my phone . The app said my door had just opened when it closed so I pushed the button on the pad to open my door. I pushed it again to close it thinking the app would show my door as closed. It’s been an hour and the app still shows my door opening; even after deleting the app restarting my phone and redowoading it.
Going through all these reviews it’s clear there’s been numerous issues for sometime. Though the developer responds to most, there’s are persists issues. Great idea and looks great as well and its a pretty forward install especially with the video but there’s major issues with the app. I’ll stick to the old school clicker in my car. No need to respond as all your other responses still yield negative reviews. I’ll be returning it back to Home Depot.
Stopped working. Really poor support
A few weeks ago I tried to use the app to open my garage. It wouldn’t recognize my login credentials. After a few tries I was locked out and had to wait a day. I received a “reset password” email but the link wasn’t active - nor was it available to use through another device. I tried dumping and reloading the app. No luck.
Emails, chats and phone calls with the company’s tech support have gone nowhere. The last time I called I asked for a call-back appointment but no one got back to me. The company acknowledges that its app upgrade has had issues, but since there’s no way to get through to them I’ve given up trying to resolve the problem. A complete hassle.
Update: Sept. 30. Tried the app once more, but no luck. The “reset password” link merely directs you to download the app, which I already have, so that’s no help. I’ve yet to hear back from tech support, despite their claims of working really hard to fix their problems. Time is too short to waste on junk products like this.
Update: Oct. 5. Received a password reset link that actually worked. The app now runs without any issues (tried it several times just to be sure). I added one star for a successful outcome, but overall I think app upgrades shouldn’t leave the user stranded. Better job next time, folks?
