Ting helps prevent electrical fires to keep your home and family safe.

While smoke detectors only tell you that a fire is occurring, Ting monitors the electricity in your home 30 million times every second to detect small, micro-arcs that can lead to electrical fires. If a hazard is detected, the Ting Support team will coordinate a licensed electrician to visit your home to find and fix the hazard, and you receive up to $1,000 from Ting to cover the costs of the repair!

Beyond providing peace of mind for fire safety, Ting provides detailed analysis of your home’s power, and notifications of power outages, internet outages, and power surges that can damage your sensitive, electronic devices. Over time, Ting’s machine learning algorithms will also provide important notifications on the performance of key appliances like your HVAC. Within a few minutes of opening the box, you’ll have a fitness tracker for your home protecting what matters most!

Warm and Fuzzy Feels Good!

My Father and I did the electrical work on our addition, and though he is a licensed electrician, I was always nervous that some of my workmanship would cause problems in the future. Installed Ting, and I now feel confident that there are no problems lurking in my wiring! I love the peace of mind it provides!

Device connection issues if you have RING and Edgemax router

Got the device and tried to connect to my router. Despite several tries and even assigning a static IP, it will not connect. Had to send all the logs to the company and I am told that currently, there is incompatibility with Ting and RING Cameras + Edgemax routers. I added a secondary router with its own DHCP and now no issues.

The animation on the home page is useless and waste of screen real estate. Even when the device was not connected, it showed the green lines with No Hazards Detected, seriously?

The app does not have a capability to to switch WIFI network. You have to reset the device and add it again. The device does not have an ad-hoc mode to connect to your network despite having a Bluetooth connection.

I think that this is a good start. The product and the app can be improved.

There is no option to enter hidden WiFi ssid

During setup you are not offered the option to enter hidden WiFi ssid. So if you have already setup your WiFi to have the ssid hidden , then you have to make it publicly discoverable even if you personally don’t like that kind of setup. Even if you go to the trouble of having your WiFi ssid unhidden, finish the setup and then hide the ssid, the sensor loses its WiFi connection.

It is a disappointment. I’ll wait until a future fix is available.
