Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits, and anyone with a personal Google account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect—inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.
Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect, and grade assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.
Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.
With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has turned in work and grade the assignment - at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.
There are many benefits of using Classroom:
Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review, and grade assignments quickly, all in one place.
Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g., documents, photos, and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.
Affordable and secure
Like the rest of G Suite for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes, and is free.

Most irritating app
The google classroom is an organizer’s worst nightmare. There are multiple places for teachers or others to post assignments for students; therefore, making it difficult for parents to easily navigate to find assignments, to-do lists, and announcements. The app does have one good quality with the ability to communicate with the administrator in a private chat; however, if you have notifications set in your devices it would alert you of the response but not let you read it until much later. This app is incredibly disjointed and seems to try and make it easier by allowing operators to have freedom in the setting not realizing that it creates more chaos than needed. Class work does not transfers over to to-do lists so students are not able to see all of the work assigned. In To-do tab, the student has the ability of to make things as done and take them off the list of things to do; but, in Classwork (most of the same assignments because they are not transferred over to the differ section of the platform) items are not enabled to be crossed off. They are slightly discolored but not enough to really set them apart from the rest of the assignments.
Worst online communication I’ve seen.👎👎👎 Sam’s mom (Karen)
I’ve seen the “hate” people are showing to this app for no reason. But from my experience things actually might be true. My son has been using this app for some time now and his grades are actually plummeting. The app is not accessible to kids and makes it harder to learn especially during a pandemic. I’m thoroughly disappointed in the teachers choice to use this app. I also think the app is putting stress on my son’s mental and physical health. He’s become sad and lazy almost never leaving the house and recently he was diagnosed with anxiety. I don’t know what to do because my husband who provides our financial support is never around and he cut half of our funding leaving us with less than 1.5 million dollars every year. My life style can’t be sustained on just this amount of money. So I’m as of now dealing with this financial crisis and my poor son who is becoming depressed due to a online learning site. I am now leading a group of moms like me who oppose this app and its developers. You are hurting our lifestyle, our pride, and most of all our children. So you better watch out because we are coming for you.
Ok. This app, is the only thing that my school is relying on to be able to make sure all the students don’t go crazy and forget everything they have learned, but, I digress. This app is to glitchy for a school app. Literally go to any other bad math site and those will be better and less glitchy. Seriously! I couldn’t even do my assignment because it wouldn’t load! And that wasn’t just me! Almost everyone in my class couldn’t do it! My teacher told my principal this and asked if we could use a different app to be able to efficiently do online school. Sadly, we are still using this app. And I have many classes I need to use for google classroom. Music, Gym, Spanish, Math, Language, History, Chemistry, etc. And google classroom isn’t that reliable for this many classes. Whenever I go into the app, it can only load one or two classes. And this is really stressful! I have to close the app multiple times in order to load all classes. Anyways, this app is trash. I would not recommend downloading it. But because all my teachers are old and google classroom is very easy to use, my school still relies on it 😒. But, thanks for reading
