Sight for sounds
If my Co-worker didn’t ask me to try Orange Theory, I never would have gave it a go. The first class at the Carle Place location was an experience. I’d been going to another gym consistently prior to taking this class. At the gym I was doing Heavy Lifting and cardio. 1 HIIT workout a week with a PT class. That class was starting to get kinda boring. Then I step into the glory that is Orange theory! That’s saying a bit much…Honestly it’s great. But certain classes are more fun than others. I have a powerful frame so, I enjoy the power days. The times to choose from are plenty on the weekdays. Weekend hours are decent. Back to that first class, Everyone at the front desk was positive and professional. Michelle was the coach that day and she did a great Job explaining everything. The sound system was great, played good music. The machines were incredible. Row and treadmill are both really well made machines. Everything is tracked on your band. It’s always good to compare your progress, and way that’s is displayed on the app is really well done. Half class on treadmill half on the workout floor. Both sections will sometime use the rower depending on the day. Classes are offered if you want 50 minutes of just one. I’ve only done tread 50, and it’s a good way to switch things up once In a while. Every location is unique, and every class is worth looking forward too. Coaches are all great and usually are there to help out if you get off track. Sign up, give it a go and buckle up. It can get pretty intense in there…

So my friend invited me to try this place out a few weeks ago. Since then I’ve lost 15 lbs and have built my stamina and muscle to be able to pass my physical training test for the military. The area is always nice and shiny, and after using each station they make sure you’re given a wipe to clean the machines and weights off for the next group. The machines themselves are amazing, they set you up an account with their app to track your heart rate, calories burned, distances, and progress. When you start using a machine you are given a number and it will have your name on it to make sure you are getting the data. While you’re using the machines, the trainers are telling you exactly what to do and they change what you do each time to go. Everyone does do the same thing, but it motivates you to try your best to catch up or try to do better than the other, just like a competition. Speaking of competing, they have scheduled marathons, competitions, etc so you can see where your progress has taken you. I’m very grateful that my friend showed me this place and I keep looking forward to going!

Slow performance

The app is pretty slow and the more studios you add, the slower it gets. It freezes pretty often and it’s quite frustrating. I expected better honestly. I tried to remove some of the studios and it won’t even let me take the star off of the studios to at least try to improve the performance myself. So now I have nine studios that I can’t get rid of. Additionally, when you go to book a class, the studios are referred to my location name instead of the actual address. I don’t know the name of every neighborhood in in my city. I expected to be able to just click on the actual class and get more information like what the address is so that I can quickly make a decision about which studio I want to go to based on distance but you can’t click anything other than to add the class as opposed to just get more information. So then I leave the list of classes and go back to the list of Studio so I can cross reference the classes that I seen with the address of the Studio with the name of the studio which is incredibly slow because the app keeps freezing. If I try to go into one specific studio and see the classes as opposed to the full list by location, it doesn’t work and so instead of it select selecting “view classes“ it’s selects that location on the map behind the view glasses button. I genuinely cannot imagine who developed this and how it was green lit. You really need to go back to the drawing board on this one. The membership of this gym is way too expensive to have an app that doesn’t function well. i’m saying this as a tech consultant that does app testing. Do better.

Like the workouts but if your app isnt working, it’s difficult to get a response and while you’re waiting on a response you’re burning through your membership. Personally I couldn’t book classes through the app - it would say I have zero classes or not work at all. When I called to book through a live person at the studio, they told me I had to book through the app. When I finally convinced someone at the studio to book classes for me, every class was wait listed. Eventually I got a manager to put me in a few classes but the app still didnt work. The studio initially told me to contact app support. App support didnt respond at all or was very slow in responding. When they did respond it was in the middle of the night - usually around 3am. I tried DM on Twitter and IG. Next they were telling me I had 2 profiles and they merged them - that would fix the problem. It didn’t. They told me the 2 profile story 4 or 5 times. After asking to cancel my membership that I was unable to use, I was told that I would have to give 30-days notice. SO FRUSTRATING to be told you have to pay for the past month you couldn't use and the next month that you still can’t use!!! I called my credit card to dispute the charges and then suddenly app support was able to solve the problem. Given I’ve paid for 2 months, Im going to give it a try but they really should have offered 2 or months of complimentary classes to offset the weeks I burned through not being able to book.
