I bought this app thinking that it wouldn’t be so much that it provided but I was wrong. This provided so much and it was so easy at first you’re kind of scrolling and you’re like what the heck does this do,but once you get just of it it’s so easy. It took me maybe five minutes just to finish the photo and I did every tool it provides and it was worth it because in the end, it was so cool. you can make anything look cool on this app and you don’t have to buy stuff like I thought you would and it’s so much fun because you have every tool and you don’t have to buy anything you don’t have to get membership. You don’t have to do anything and this made me ◡̈⋆ⒽⒶⓅⓅⓎ😊 because I have the apps I buy you have to get lots of stuff and it’s frustrating but this one it was way funner. It’s so simple so easy I would definitely recommend. if you read my other reviews, you would know it’s hard to get me happy. i’m very critical.
This app used to be great but not anymore

Snapseed was the photo editor I recommended to everyone. It was clean, easy to use, and actually had really useful and powerful tools. Then came the redesign. What a godawful mess! They’re so proud of their little animations when they should have done more user testing instead. The adjustments are no longer intuitive. You often can’t see exactly what you’re doing because your finger is in the way of the tool interface. I often end up switching between tool modes because the adjustment movements are too close to the movements that switch things. When you finish an adjustment they fling the tool menu up in front of your image instead of allowing you to judge the result properly. Then there’s the whole “library” thing where I have to have a separate photo library inside the app. The user experience just blows now. I keep the app on my phone for literally one reason alone and that’s the vignette tool. It has the best adjustments of any vignette tool that I’ve found. But that’s it. It’s the last thread keeping this app around for me. It’s seriously terrible now when it used to be so clean and pleasant to use. I have tried for a while now to get used to this new iteration but I really just want to go back to the old version. It was far superior in every aspect. For the record I’m trained as both a UX designer and a professional photographer.
Amazingly good.

Snapseed: Photo Editor9.0 starsFirst impression & onboarding: A lean 50MB download, Snapseed skips sign-ups entirely—refreshing in an era of data hoards. Permissions are minimal and justified.Core functionality & daily use: Professional-grade tools (selective adjust, healing, curves) without the bloat. Edits are non-destructive, fast on both mid-range and flagship Snapdragon/Exynos chips. Offline-first functionality ensures no data dependency.Design & UX: Clean, utilitarian interface prioritizes tool accessibility over aesthetic frills. Gestures are precise; no accidental taps. Dark mode is genuinely dark, sparing OLED screens.Privacy & data handling: No account required, no apparent data collection beyond local edits. Google’s track record is mixed, but transparency here is commendable.Monetization: Completely free. No ads, no sneaky in-app purchases—a rare gem in mobile photography.Battery, storage, and system impact: Efficient; edits render quickly without excessive CPU/GPU strain. Minimal storage footprint for a feature-rich editor.Standout strengths: Unmatched power for free; robust offline capabilities.Overall verdict: Snapseed is a masterclass in restraint and utility. It respects your time, your device, and your privacy—qualities all too rare in today’s app ecosystem.Who it’s for: Power users and enthusiasts who value substance over style. Casuals might feel overwhelmed; alternatives like VSCO offer gentler learning curves.Would I keep it? Absolutely. It’s my go-to for serious edits.
Best mobile editor for over 10 years

Snapseed has been my go-to editing app since years before they were bought out by Google. It is extremely uncommon to find an app that refuses to deviate from its excellency (especially after being acquired), so I was nervous about the new layout update. I shouldn’t have been; the Snapseed team has never let me down. I am surprised this is not the #1 photo editor on the App Store. I have introduced plenty of talented creatives to Snapseed who now use it as their primary editor—sometimes even over Adobe. In terms of quality and convenience, the runner-up to Snapseed isn’t even close.I would mourn this app like a person if it ever changed.
This is a routine maintenance update. We have improved the app's performance and fixed minor bugs for a better experience.
