This app is for those who bought a Jeep because it’s widely known to be one of the most capable off-road vehicles in the world and now you are looking for opportunities to exploit those capabilities. The Badge of Honor program is a brilliant marketing campaign that provides Jeep owners the ability to discover many of the most challenging and/or rewarding, jeep-appropriate trails in the country. Complete with difficulty ratings and reviews, info and location maps, etc. this app let’s you check in via GPS location when you actually drive one of the listed trails and then they will send you a physical plaque that you can stick onto your jeep for each trail you do. Many jeep owners put these on the side of their jeeps, reminiscent of how WWII aircraft crews put marks on the sides of their planes to indicate their victories. And yes, for many of these trails you will definitely consider completing them a VICTORY! I highly encourage any new Jeep owner to find and join a local club, get the Jeep BOH app, and most importantly - get out there! Get experience and training driving off-road, build up your confidence and discover the limits of your vehicle and your driving abilities. I guarantee you will amaze yourself. As you zero in on your off-road confidence level you may decide to customize your vehicle to achieve better performance for the type of off-roading you want to do, or to go after those trails rated at higher levels of difficulty. It’s an awesome hobby that can take you places very few ever get to visit, and to see sights only the luckiest get to photograph. Enjoy it!
Awesome concept - failing execution
RockDr.
As the President of the Georgia Jeep Alliance I have been organizing club trips to acquire these badges with members of the club in group excursions often traveling many hours and investing multiple days with the goal of earning the badges. The concept is awesome, however after organizing 6 or more of these trips with members of our club, many including myself are disappointed having not received the majority of the badges earned. Multiple calls and e-mails have had no results. Personally I’m waiting on badges for almost a full year now, and many from the club are as well. While I enjoy the trips, we have traveled to places we likely would not have gone to if we had known the badges were not going to be sent. Social media is rife with this disappointment from many other people as well.
Management Problems
Grow up Morrisson
I have been involved with Badge of Honor since the spring of 2020. The problem I have with them is they do not respond to any requests you have. I did Backway to Crown King on October 6, 2021. I was thoroughly disappointed in that trail as it was rated as a 10. My opinion was a 5 at best and it ended in a resort area. I wrote my opinion of it and Jim Morrison has been pouting like a child ever since. He refuses to send me the badge I earned for it. It remains stuck in the requested part of their listing. He withheld my badge for Turkey Bay for a year and then claimed it was shipped but I never received an email telling me it was going to ship. I could have informed them beforehand and got the shipping address changed. I have informed them of address, phone number and email address changes tree times so far with no response or changes made in my account. I offered to pay for the second shipping of the badge. The first time I sent them the new email address, a new message showed up in my profile stating they will only respond to the email address that you contacted them with originally. A hacker locked me out of the old email, so I can’t access it. I just did a really good trail in Nevada, Rocky Gap Rd. I gave it a good review and my badge is in the requested stage. I guess I will never see that one because Jim Morrison is still pouting.
Great app
Late night Folker
I stumbled on this app after doing the Rubicon Trail. I thought, if I had this all prior, I could receive my badge. So I decided to install the app and contact customer service regarding checking in on trails I have already completed. I stated my scenario and they requested GPS tracking info or pics. I gave both and they were happy to check me in on my trail so I could receive my badge. All in a mater of days, I had my trail check-in pop-up on my app. The only flaw I would state, I wish there were more trails near me that are approved as “Jeep” quality trails. For instance, Slick Rock, in my area. It’s a great technical ride and deserved a badge. I’m sure there is a process to adding trails. Other than that small issue, it’s great!
