SharkSmart WA is Western Australia’s official source of shark activity information. It also includes beach safety features such as Surf Life Saving WA patrolled beaches and weather forecast, to help you plan your trip to the beach. The app will help you switch on your Sea Sense by providing near real-time information of shark activity including current alerts and warnings. Select your favourite coastal locations and use notifications to receive relevant updates as they happen. SharkSmart WA Features: Map Filter and display shark activity and beach safety features including the locations of shark monitoring receivers, beach enclosures, and Beach Emergency Numbers (BEN) signage. Explore and save your favourite coastal locations to stay up to date of recent shark activity. Updates Stay informed of shark activity, including current alerts and warnings. Information is prioritised into ‘Nearby’, ‘Your Favourites’ and ‘Other Locations’, giving you the most relevant information first. Report Using location services, the app can provide you with information about your current coastal location. Use the details provided and the quick call link to report shark sightings or whale carcasses (which are known to attract sharks) to Water Police as soon as possible. Information within the SharkSmart WA app is designed to help you make an informed decision about your water use and take personal responsibility for your safety. Thank you this app works awesome. I see your alerts when they come through and they’re very relevant and we always check before we jump in like snorkelling, whatever, even though it’s not 100% guarantee you won’t get bitten. It’s Dam lovely to have you on my side,😍combined with always swimming with a buddy. 50/50 lotto lol The percentage goes down quite remarkable Thanks lee😉😜🤣🤣💜

As a old deep sea fisherman I’ve always been curious about Sharks, seen hundreds of big and small and learnt that they are smarter than a lot of creatures. This App is great but can lag behind real time at times it’s a great way to work out if you want to go swimming in your area and take the chances with Untagged.I think the tagged sharks that register here should have more information supplied such as approx age, weight, type, size, size when tagged and location were tagged and date tagged and last location scanned and how often scanned.People are fascinated with Sharks.

As a old deep sea fisherman I’ve always been curious about Sharks, seen hundreds of big and small and learnt that they are smarter than a lot of creatures. This App is great but can lag behind real time at times it’s a great way to work out if you want to go swimming in your area and take the chances with Untagged.I think the tagged sharks that register here should have more information supplied such as approx age, weight, type, size, size when tagged and location were tagged and date tagged and last location scanned and how often scanned.People are fascinated with Sharks.

I've noticed NOT many Sharks have been logging themselves in? Perhaps developers have overlooked the fact that sharks don't have any hands?i suggest we help them by painting QR codes onto their bellies, as they swim over a scanner on the ocean floor surrounding the swim beaches, then they are automatically logged in. Sharks will appreciate it.= Covid Safe and more humans will get to keep their limbs.

Excellent to get live updates. But the map/location directions are completely wrong. For example an alert might say: Meelup Beach - NORTH of dunsborough This is completely incorrect as Meelup is SOUTH of dunsborough This happens all the time due to incorrect map reading Other than that - highly recommend

We're glad you like the app. With regards to the location of Meelup Beach, I think confusion has potentially arisen as Meelup Beach is further along the coastal route than Dunsborough if you are following the coast south. However, if you have a look at the map again you can see that this part of the coast, heading out along the peninsula towards Cape Naturaliste curves in a northern direction from Dunsborough, therefore Meelup is north of Dunsborough.
