It’s just absobloodylutely fantastic!! We now use Tyro for a majority of our transactions and have it linked to our tyro back account and the boss uses the tyro BYO App on his iPhone so when he is on a job out of the work shop he could take a wifi eftpos machine with him which we have to have wifi signal for out he uses his phone which the fees might I add are lower than the standard eft fees. It’s also all linked to our WordPress Site which is hosted by Woo Commerce. It just works! We love it. Go Tyro! We have had Square and Stripe as well and were scammed by both of them. We spoke to Tyro about this before signing and they said that would never happen with them. So far that has NOT been a lie!.

Easy to set up (have the mobile terminal) integrated with Lightspeed. No downtime and can switch to 3G when there is a powercut. Easy to look at Cost of Acceptance via the web interface or app. My charges have reduced considerably since I switched from my previous provider.

Moving to Square

After 6 months of use, we have ordered a Square reader. Here’s why:Although usual slow weekdays seem to work out fine with our 3G connected Tyro terminal (not the wifi battery operated version) we have twice had bad problems on a busy Saturday. We don’t often get to do busy Saturday events, so when we do we really hate it if we have the extra stress of the Tyro terminal losing connection or transactions failing. The other issue which contributes to these problems is that Tyro do not provide a POS app to go with their system. And they provided no help in finding an affordable option, other than the endless list of POS systems which are compatible- but not affordable or suitable for our particular micro business. We ended up finding Loyverse through google searching and by coincidence discovered it was also compatible with Tyro. The Tyro website did not highlight Loyverse as an option when I was searching for a free POS option. I feel this is a major failing on Tyro’s part. Loyverse, being free, isn’t the best software to use and perhaps contributes to some of the connection problems sometimes, but I doubt it because it works problem free until suddenly on a weekend event Tyro has consistent problems.So this morning a transaction was “reversed” after the customer walked away and we lost 100% of the sale and the customer got free coffees without even knowing it. That’s the last straw, $29 per month (before the 1% fee!) for unreliability is too much. We’ll give Square a go, they look more professional, take up much less bench space and provide a really nice looking POS too at no extra cost. If Square is also a big PIA, we might come back to Tyro, so we won’t cancel our account immediately.

Terrible service and tech infrastructure

It’s really terrible service I have ever met. I wait my new terminal for ages and even a mail asking how long I can get replaced, no one is going to answer.The service is extremely not stable, early this year. Many customers met the connectivity issue across Australia. The CEO just sent out an apologies emails and updated progress to replace new terminals. But actually after many weeks, I haven’t seen any progress.

Customers can now apply for a Tyro Flexi Loan through the Tyro App subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
