Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits and anyone with a personal Google Account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect – inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organised.

Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect and mark assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organised.

Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and marks right in Classroom.

With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has handed in work and mark the assignment – at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.

There are many benefits of using Classroom:

Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.

Saves time
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review and mark assignments quickly, all in one place.

Improves organisation
Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g. documents, photos and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.

Enhances communication
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.

Like the rest of Google Workspace for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.

Ok but lots of bugs

Firstly, one bug is that when I finish writing in a specific place, Google Classroom automatically places my writing in a totally different place and it also changes the size. Secondly, it takes ages to load up something and I have never found an app other than this that takes so long to load. Thirdly, when I save my work and then find out that I did a mistake, then I go back I find out I can’t edit what work I had saved. Fourth, sometimes when I try to draw using pen, I can’t write; It only changes the size and then I have to start all over again. Fifth, not only does it take forever to upload something it also takes ages to send something. Sixth, sometimes it kicks me out of the whole app and logs me out! Seventh, when I watch a video then I have to pause, I find out I can’t pause. The only way I can pause is restart the app. Eighth, sometimes when I write it turns out almost invisible. This app crashes all the time and has many more bugs and errors than I mentioned that have to be fixed. It is also very glitchy. I like school, too! So don’t think I have the brain of a two year old.

This application feels like it is unfinished and has lots of bugs without anyone debugging it.

Your application is simply unnecessary.

I am aware that in the United Kingdom and all of its territories it is a legal requirement to do schooling up to your GCSE exams, therefore, learning is necessary, however, I find it detestable that Google, as a corporation, has the audacity to create an online form of learning. The majority of U.K. schools provide digital planners henceforth your calendar and reminding capabilities prove futile. All though I must say that your service is often used more than a physical planner, but this also often gets students in trouble because they are expected to use their physical planners. A second thing I might say, other than the digital planning capabilities whose flaws have been mentioned, the only other capability is to hand in work. This could be done via email or physically in class, google classroom has no need for this function. If you really would prefer to have the network traffic, work can be emailed via g-mail, which several schools, including my own, already employ, in order to distribute necessary information to students. Thank you Google, for listening to my revised thesis explaining the uselessness of your poorly built service. Regards, Brayden C.

Usable but buggy

It works great when it does but a lot of the time, files just refuse to load. It takes quite a while to upload files too and a lot of times when I try to upload a file, it just doesn’t. Another thing is that there’s a lot of old classes I’m in that I don’t want to leave but at the same time don’t want cluttering up my main page, but students aren’t able to archive classes for themselves so I just end up with a massive list of classes. Document editing on mobile isn’t exactly fun or easy either, as a lot of the time when I start a document on my laptop and go to finish it on my phone when I’m on the bus/car/walking to school etc it doesn’t work. This is specifically a classroom issue as well, as when I start a document on my phone and finish it on my phone it works just fine. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy learning and it’s still a decent app and but classroom just has a bunch of small annoyances that make it just that much more inconvenient. I know there’s a lot of troll reviews but for real, a few changes and bug fixes could make using classroom a lot more easy.
