Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits and anyone with a personal Google Account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect – inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate and stay organised.
Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect and mark assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organised.
Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and marks right in Classroom.
With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has handed in work and mark the assignment – at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.
There are many benefits of using Classroom:
Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review and mark assignments quickly, all in one place.
Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g. documents, photos and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.
Like the rest of Google Workspace for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.
Camera: Needed to allow the user to take photos or videos and post them to Classroom.
Microphone: Needed to enable audio capture for recording videos to be posted to Classroom.
Photos: Needed to allow the user to attach photos or videos to Classroom. Photos or videos posted to Classroom will be stored on Google servers in order to show them in Classroom.

Good idea in theory but in practice it’s pretty poor. We access distance learning via google classroom on an iPad. We often struggle to access all uploaded resources. Videos will not play at all. Printing sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, no rhyme or reason as to when though. The app is slow to load, the work ‘stream’ has glitched and won’t load anything posted since late March so we now have to use the ‘class work’ tab, which takes in excess of a minute to load up every time; this is extremely tedious for a 7 year old who already has little interest in the tasks set by his teacher.
It would also be nice for the children to be able to communicate with each other, other than commenting on set tasks, as well as a way for parents to communicate to teachers about work.
I have friends who’s childrens’ schools use different platforms and from the sound of it they are far superior to google classroom. This app just doesn’t cut it for long-term distance learning; I will be glad when schools reopen so we don’t have to use this method anymore.
Your application is simply unnecessary.
I am aware that in the United Kingdom and all of its territories it is a legal requirement to do schooling up to your GCSE exams, therefore, learning is necessary, however, I find it detestable that Google, as a corporation, has the audacity to create an online form of learning. The majority of U.K. schools provide digital planners henceforth your calendar and reminding capabilities prove futile. All though I must say that your service is often used more than a physical planner, but this also often gets students in trouble because they are expected to use their physical planners. A second thing I might say, other than the digital planning capabilities whose flaws have been mentioned, the only other capability is to hand in work. This could be done via email or physically in class, google classroom has no need for this function. If you really would prefer to have the network traffic, work can be emailed via g-mail, which several schools, including my own, already employ, in order to distribute necessary information to students. Thank you Google, for listening to my revised thesis explaining the uselessness of your poorly built service. Regards, Brayden C.
It needs a lot of work google
Hi ! Sorry to bug you but I have a few complaints about the app google classroom. I do not have this app on this device but my iPad and laptop. The first one is ...
No.1 is :text box : this is quite annoying, especially when I’m in the middle of writing an essay or project and I want to go to a different slide or just come back to it , it has no Back or forward button for coming back to the texts and if you accidentally re size it , you can no longer edit the texts .
No.2 is : storage and loading: this is quite a bug as well because I could be half way in my protect and the screen would just out of the blue freeze . And I know there may not be a problem with that to you , but the only way you can help it is to save the work . Leading from that , once it has been saved there is no doing and undoing any mistakes or even editing it then .
No.3 is : quality: the graphics are unfortunately horrible. My teacher tried to assign us a project but it only came through to about 3 students ! And this continued for about 3-5 months , with breaks of a week of it going quiet ! Then , when everyone wants to send a link to a project , photo , video or file ( including the teachers !) it either won’t come through , say an error has recurred or give us horrible service and quality!
Please take my complaints and advise for viewing and thank you for reviewing my response! Hope to see some improvement google and good luck !
