I have had problems lately where by I’ve had x amount of money in my account. Unfortunately I’ve had my oil tank leak and it’s cost me a lot of money so I thought the government have given me this money for heating so on numerous occasions I tried to see about taking the money from my electric account to my bank so I could use this money towards putting oil in my new tank. I was getting more and frustrated because I kept getting told the same thing and for 3 days in a row I should of had a phone appointment between 9 and 12 noon and every time they left it till I’d left the phone thinking it had got to 1pm then 1.30 and then 2pm then finally I had this appointment and was told the same thing that because of some error they were waiting for this to go through before they could make payment and I am pleased to say that Scottish Power maid my payment by sending me a cheque for my money, I am now able to purchase my oil. what a relief this is and I would like to say Sorry to those people who I spoke to on the phone because of my frustration they were at the end of it so sorry again. Lesson learnt. Be patient!
Smart meter/ or dumb meter ?!
wullie boy 🇬🇧w.a.t.p🇬🇧
After being given false information i found myself agreeing to having a smart meter installed. At first it seemed fine no problems but then when i was navigating through the meter I noticed i could only get access to my meter balances (gas & electric) . The meter didn’t work to the way it was described to me by the person installing ?! I can’t access how to save power or what appliances were on in the house to show me if i should turn certain appliances of to save on energy or if i had to much on at the one time ?! It’s actually turned out as no benefit to me having the smart meter on but has caused me more stress as it doesn't give up to date costs , balance ,access, even though its on half hourly up dates & always turns of and crashes its a pay as you go meter (tup up) & its just the same as having the old meter i had in the only difference is automatic payments on line apart from this it’s useless & as i said i was given false information to get it installed. The person who was out convincing people that they are better of doing it now as it is becoming mandatory (witch was a lie ) . I only found this out wene I checked up online. So if you have a tup up meter I strongly recommend that you refuse this to be installed as you don't get the benefit of what appliances you have on it just showed what you have used & what you’re balance is no different to what you have eith a key meter 🚫PLEASE FOR YOUR OWEN BENEFIT DO NOT EXCEPT THE METER AT ALL COSTS ESPECIALLY IF YOU PREE PAY METER🛑💯💯💯💯🚫❌❌❌❌❌❌❌🚫

This company has a terrible tendancy to over charge for everything, I had taken a tenancy on a new build home on the 2nd of September although I did not move in as there were no white goods or carpets but I did take a photo of the gas and electric meters and that was my opening reading and my proof of use although I had not used any gas or electricity I made an account with British Gas over the phone on the 20th of September and then moved in to the new home on the 23rd of September I took another reading which had only moved by one point on the electrical side and gave it to Scottish power as a closing reading and the same reading to British Gas as and opening reading and everything was sorted I then get an email a month later from Scottish power wanting £102 pounds I was in shock so I emailed straight away the story I’m writing now and then a couple of weeks on another email saying they want £42 instead in my eyes they were wanting part of British Gas bill and I’d have to pay twice to two companies today I’ve received a bill for £52 with no explanation they are just pulling numbers and expecting to be paid what a disgusting company I’d be ashamed to work for no help from customer services even British Gas said no one should wait a month to set an account up its absurdity that there’s no communication and acknowledging of emails I Don know how they are still in business oh yes robbing people that’s how!
Staying with Scottish Power
Grumpy Gdad
Having been with Scottish Power for many many years we have always been happy with the negotiated renewal rates ( often with a bit of bargaining) after many suggestions that we should agree to have a smart meter fitted, I was totally against a meter because of the bad reports of the first type being fitted. When I called to agree my next years unit rates I was told there was one price for having a smart meter fitted and higher price if we didn’t agree to have one fitted - at the time I called “blackmail” but reluctantly I agreed to have a smart meter fitted and I can honestly say I have no regrets. The first meter that was fitted failed after about a month and it took a while for a new one to be installed. The information it provides is very helpful and submitting monthly readings couldn’t be easier with an instant figure calculated as to whether the account is in credit or debit. Like everybody else our costs will increase in April but having the smart meter will allow us to identify where we can save money by switching off any items using electricity that can be done without.
We’ve been further improving the experience for Direct Debit customers through our Energy Tracker feature. Including tech improvements and bug fixes.
