Ok, so the app does function - most of the time. I have had a couple of times where I have had to remove the hub and re-set it up to work again. But I can live with that minor annoyance. My issues with it are mainly that in this day and age it should be much more user friendly and customizable. Probably my biggest gripe with it is the lack of a portrait mode. Using a tablet in landscape mode, especially with the way the app is set up, is very difficult because all the buttons you use the most are right in the middle where you can’t reach with your thumb while holding the pad. Portrait mode would allow much easier reach ability and, if you think about it, a normal remote is tall not wide. Also, it would be nice to be able to arrange buttons and sections, like the number pad and arrow wheel, how you would prefer them. In other words make the app more customizable, which would make it more user friendly. Instead of a sidebar on each side for activities (left side) and devices (right side), I would prefer a drop down row of icons from the top that you swipe down to view, like the google home hub has for home controls. This would keep them hidden and out of the way except when I need them. In summary, I just think the app needs a redesign, with thought put into it, that brings it into this century...
Logitech has lost the game
The Original Devastator
Edit #2, Sept 2022: considering that this product has been discontinued for 17 months now, why are people still buying it??Edit Jan 2022: Right before I was going to return it 2 years ago, I gave it one more shot. It finally connected. Now 2 years later I can’t remember exactly how I got it working but pretty sure it was something between phone and wifi network. Anyway, fast forward to April 2021. Logitech announced they are discontinuing the Harmony line, remotes and hubs. So yeah, kinda cheesed that I just bought 2 Harmony Companion/Hub sets for $200 and a year later they are soon to be useless. But whatever, it’s working. Skip a year to 2022, and I pretty much stopped using these completely by the end of 2021. Why? They ended up being more trouble than they are worth. In hindsight, this explains both the discontinuation and a lot of bad (and well deserved) reviews.2020: Logitech used to be one of the best, now it's the absolute worst. Right out of the box I've spent over an hour just getting the hub online and it won't even connect to my home network to begin setup. Hub won't even go into pairing mode. No matter how many times I press the button it blinks twice and stops. App is garbage. After entering credentials it just sits there, spinning. I know the hub is connected because when I look in the router device table, it's right there. IP address and all. Bought on Saturday, returning on Tuesday. Can't get this back in the box and returned fast enough.
Harmony Continues it’s Stagnation and Decline
DarfNader
It’s amazing that over the last 15 years the Harmony remote software does nothing more now than it did then. In fact, with the push to make it “idiot proof” Logitech has actually reduced its functionality! There is much less that you can customize and things like trying to send keyboard patterns to your computer via the Bluetooth keyboard emulator is still as useless as it was in 2014 where you have to select the keys from a list rather than map from- dare I say it- the keyboard from IOS! It’s ludicrously bad. The “soft” menus from the Elite remote still don’t map to the software and it’s still nearly impossible to program a custom device whether it be controlled by IR or over the network. It’s embarrassing. Forget about new home automation features like Shortcuts in iOS. There is still no support. Controls for other smart home functions is just as abysmal as it was when the Elite remote was released over 5 years ago. What’s amazing is that why Logitech has sat on its laurels with Harmony that no other company has come up and eaten their lunch. It would not be hard to do. It would only have to be mediocre and it would be superior software. The sad part is that the physical remote and command repeater/emitter is a nice, aside from it being pretty slow, but programming it is still horrible, not that you can program it to do much outside of the standard set of controls you’d use because everyone is the same right? 🙄Get it together, Logitech! This software was bad when it was released over 5 years ago and I cannot see a single feature improvement to it since then.
Your 1st problem ... you got too many remotes and hubs and remote hubs
Awcress
Mine didn’t harmonize .. I think it’s a solo act. (Bad-a-bump!) Ok so I’m pretty good with tech and figuring out little complex things like this but this was literally ridiculous. I got the harmony touch .... but then I saw somewhere it’s also called the harmony One..(. it’s just the remote with touch screen and no hub.) anywho, 1st problem...Buying it , 2nd problem was it doesn’t work with with the new Apple anything. When logging on and making an account I have the remote saying “put me on the cradle” I have the computer telling me I can’t download said app because it’s not 64bit and is directing me to some forum of people complaining. You can’t do anything with the dang remote until you download the apps and software, so although it’s mighty and has all this power ... I can’t even flip a switch or push a button to connect it to ANYTHING on its own. That’s absurd. Slim down your product line and focus on customer experiences. I had to load parallels on my mac because Even the iPhone app is locked down until the remote connects to a hub (flashes on phone ) that it doesn’t even come with..... bam 💥 too much frustration for a simple device with a few buttons. I’m going to the clapper 🙏👏👏
