I had not worked out since my 3rd C-section, 7 years ago, because my diastasis recti was so bad and I felt so discouraged and it was so uncomfortable. When I tried to do a crunch, it looked like an alien was trying to jump out of me. Random strangers would ask me when I was due. My OB, during my annual exam, said to me “your abdominal area has just completely given up, hasn’t it.” When I started with this app and did the first gap measurement, it felt like I could get both hand’s worth of fingers (so 8 fingers) into the gap, it was ridiculous. This app was a Hail Mary before I started looking for surgeons (that I can’t really afford).I have now been doing the exercises in this app at least 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Dear lord is it effective. I’m down to a two finger gap, and just a tiny little “gently sloping hill” when I try to do a crunch. I’ve lost .7 inch in my waist and .4 inch in my stomach. And the very best part is I can do the whole thing in my room with the door closed right after taking the kids to school before I head to the office. One time I couldn’t get the exercises in, and I literally did at least the core compressions in the car while driving to work. It’s easy and it feels good to do them.The only negative to this app is that my husband is a little miffed that I started spending so much money on new tops that are small and cute, instead of the tents I was wearing to hide my belly. Good problems. :)

This app is a great gentle workout. I love that it is safe for DR and also helps to heal it! I’m still on week 3 so I’m not very far in, but I love the workouts and gentleness of the trainer and also the helpful videos which tell you what is safe and what is not and how to properly move day to day with DR. I cried when I watched those because I felt so supported and like I was finally getting the information I needed! I love that you can ask questions and a trained professional will answer you. I’m feeling like I can do it! It’s so nice that the videos are easy to follow, especially with motherhood really taking it all out of me everyday, I love that I can come to this app and do similar workouts everyday, not having to learn something new necessarily. I feel like the moves are specifically chosen for their effectiveness because I can feel it. I really like the speakers voice and her words are always helpful reminders so I’m properly doing the exercises! I often find myself listening to her and then realizing I needed that reminder and incorporating it. I also really love the set up of the app, it’s straightforward but also simple and beautiful. I’ve tried quite a few diastasis programs in the past but this one is the best. The easy to use app format is my favorite vs trying to find what day I’m on with programs available online. I just switched from a different workout app (which wasn’t geared for DR) because it was destroying my core despite trying to be careful. I had undone all of my previous DR healing unfortunately by doing certain excersises I didn’t realize were harmful, and by not engaging my core properly. My pooch became huge after faithfully following that workout program for 74 days and I felt so defeated! I had been eyeing every mother program and decided it was time to switch. I’m only a little over one week in and my DR is closing back up thankfully and my pooch is almost completely gone. I will add though, I already know how to activate my deep transverse muscles. You need to be careful about your posture and proper core engagement throughout the day as well for EM to be as effective as quickly as it has been for me. I’m hoping to completely close my DR by the end of the program!

If you can see and hear perfectly you will have no difficulty. I am partially deaf so I have to have to volume very loud, which means my baby has to be awake when I do it, which makes it hard to do. Supposedly a selection of videos have cc, but I’m 32 days in and have yet to encounter any. And no, there is no descriptive audio offered for the blind, otherwise my blind friend could have signed for me as I went through the motions. That was a very frustrating afternoon for both of us.Do the workouts actually work? The core compression stretches seem to have had an impact, and they are safer for postpartum recovery than Fitbit’s offerings. However they are a bit repetitive in sequence and there’s almost no modifications offered if you have injuries/disabilities. (The repetitive nature isn’t all bad, I’m deaf not stupid and it did allow me to memorize the moves so I could work out quietly) Also keep in mind the actual workouts increase in length so if you are looking for 10-15th every day instead of 30 you’ll need to check their library for alternatives. Overall, I’d recommend over Fitbits workouts, but would really like to see updates that make it easier for the audio and visually impaired.
