Description

All aspects of working out should be fun, not just the workout itself. Personal Best makes sure the fun – and the tracking – doesn't stop when your run, walk, or other workout does.

Personal Best is the one and only workout companion you need, whether you prefer to track your exercise on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Working out is about the numbers as much as the sweat and Personal Best has a ton of them, all presented in a gorgeous way.

At its core, Personal Best is a great way to see all of the workout data your iPhone and Apple Watch collect when you work out. Distance traveled, heart rate, and more are all tracked and Personal Best presents it in a way that not only looks great but offers insights, too. You'll receive feedback on your workouts immediately and see leaderboards showing how your last workout stacks up against your best. Nothing's more motivational than beating your own high score!

Personal Best's wealth of information includes aggregated data as well, so you can see how many workouts you've done over the last week, month, quarter, and year. Metrics include how many calories you've burned, the distance you've traveled, and more. Ever wondered which days you're most active on? Personal Best can tell you!

Because all of your health data is private, it lives on your device and never, ever leaves it. Personal Best ties into the Health and Fitness apps on your iPhone and uses their data to create its graphs, leaderboards, and stickers. Your data is yours and that's the way it should be.

Personal Best includes:
- Native iPhone widgets to display information about your workouts, the last 30 days of exercise, and more.
- Sharable stickers with as much, or as little information about your workout as you like – perfect for sharing on the 'gram!
- Privacy as a feature, not an afterthought. We don't collect your data.
- An inexpensive one-time feature unlock. Upgrade when you're ready and make the most of your workouts and the information they generate.
- Support for Peloton, Strava, and any other app that populates the Health app with workout information using Apple HealthKit.
- Extensive integration with Shortcuts and Siri.

Awesome

Edit: the latest couple of versions of the app have a display problem. The main screen doesn’t actually seem to fit on the phone screen! You can hold and drag left or right to see everything but it’s like 150% wider than the actual screen and when you release your finger it just snaps back to the middle and display is cut off again. The All Workouts screen size is fine. Pls fix.

Congrats, you fixed the issue where the app wasn’t able to pull heart rate data from eg Garmin workouts! It now correctly shows HR info. Good work, five stars, excellent app.

Hi, thanks so much for the candid feedback and for helping me fix this to improve the app for everyone!

Edit: Would you mind sending me some screenshots or a recording to personalbest@codakuma.com so I can investigate further?

Simple but powerful and looks great!

Love the customization on the various leaderboard types (speed, pace, distance etc.) and ability to set filters on various workout types!

App is very slick and smooth so far on iOS 14 and love the widget addition - maybe add in a leaderboard widget in the next release?

Well worth the $5 to import all historical data.

UPDATE: The ability to set up leaderboard for 1 mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon would be great! You can get kinda close with current filters but not all the way there. You need to add in ability to search for distances between mileage rather than exactly on target since most runs are a little over or under. Being able to sort by shortest duration also would need to be added to make this work well. Thanks for consideration!

Thanks so much for the kind and thoughtful feedback!

I'm actively developing Personal Best all the time, and I think your feature suggestions are great so I'll put them on my list. Thanks again :)

Crashes, Notifications Make No Sense

I got this and bought premium because I really wanted another way to slice and dice my data and keep myself motivated. That it has widgets and could help me create a dashboard of sorts was a great plus.

The problems started almost immediately. When trying to scroll down the screen, things stop, nothing is clickable, the header and text that scrolls up overlaps and jumbles. Only closing the app resolves it, but the problem has continued every time I’ve attempted to check the app. Moreover, I get congratulated for workouts from days ago. I just got about five congratulations notifications for workouts yesterday or days prior. All at once. It’s kind of pointless.

Don’t buy it.

Developer Response ,

Hi, sorry you’ve not had a great time with Personal Best so far.

I’m working on improvements to the notification system as we speak to prevent these issues happening. It’s labelled as a beta feature for this reason - the vast majority of workouts are working correctly, but the Apple Health app landscape is so diverse that it’s very difficult to account for all situations and apps.

The scrolling behaviour is concerning, I haven’t heard reports of this from anybody and Personal Best is using standard iOS UI elements for everything, so this shouldn’t happen. Regardless, I’ll investigate and see what I can do.

EDIT: I believe these issues are now all fixed. Thanks for reporting them and sorry you had a poor experience.
