I started out with synchrony and they were pretty good, but then they started bills of boys been paid on time every month usually more than the minimum payment for many years and they’re always lowering the balance. They do everything they can to keep your credit score. messed up. They do it deliberately, the higher or the lower your credit score the higher the interest rate they can charge you. They’re up to almost I think they’re at 36% and Lord forbid you miss a payment then it goes to over 40% if you’re trying to help your credit, this isn’t a good place to start folks. Save your effort and do something sensible this isn’t it, for me I will boycott and not buy from stores that use synchrony as a bank.

I got a card because I needed my 2 front tires replaced on my car! After reading reviews about the app, I’m thankful that I got my card paid off! Although that was somewhat of a hassle because I was sending money orders because I don’t give my bank account information to nobody! My last payment they didn’t apply to my account so when I knew it should have been there, I checked to see if it had been cashed and it was, a week before so why was it not applied to my account? I had to send them a copy of the stub as proof before they would apply it to my account! I’m wondering if it wasn’t because I told them that if I get a copy with their endorsement on it that I wouldn’t only cut up the card but I would be contacting the bbb and an attorney that it was actually applied! Now reading reviews about not being able to get logged into their account and then charging fees “after “ the bill was paid off, I’m thinking that I probably shouldn’t use it again! And if you can’t get logged in, there’s no point in using this app so I think that it’s a hard pass for me! I don’t need anymore problems with them!Update: apparently the check stub was not proof enough and they applied the amount back to my card so I’m waiting for the copy of the endorsed check! When I get that, I will definitely contact the bbb and an attorney! But regardless, I will never use that card again! I’m done!

I’m leaving this comment on here because I can’t get an answer from anyone on the phone. How contradictory is it for me to open the app to make a payment and I’m instantly hit with a message about how you’re doing your part to be there for your customers during this pandemic BS then continue on only to find out that my account (which is not close to its limit, is current on payments, and has a good payment history) has been closed without even a notification? And as I write this- without an explanation as well. Of the almost 2 years I’ve had this account, NOW is probably when I would need it most. Seems completely opposite of being there for someone- and I’m not even ASKING for anything! Even when society runs ‘normally’ your business actions here are ridiculous. There’s still a balance on the card that you’ve closed- should this be some sort of credit score issue or anything unrelated to this account - I could imagine it being hard to collect on it. Just sayin. I hope during this time of uncertainty, you all aren’t blowing flowers up everyone’s a__ while you close accounts from anyone that’s unfortunate enough to feel the repercussions of government shutting down the economy. Thanks Syncrony- thanks for nothin!
Worst bank to get credit through

I have received cards from various banks with minimal to no issues but Synchrony is by far the worst to get a credit card through. My first card I received was for Ashley Furniture which I paid off in 6 months to get the same as cash price. The day I made my last payment they send me a letter that they are reducing my credit to $200 because of my credit score. My score wasn’t any lower than when they accepted me and who can buy anything for $200 at a furniture store? Three months later they send me another letter that they closed my account. Second card I get is for tires at Discount Tires. I paid off the $700 in 6 months to take advantage of the same as cash deal. Again, the month of my last payment they drop my limit to $250. I had that limit for a few months using the card at gas stations to show use and I paid it off every billing cycle. Today I get a letter they closed my account with the same lame excuses they gave me with my Ashley account. I can see if I paid late or maybe only made minimum payments and always kept a high balance but that was never the case. I will never get credit any synchrony backed card. Ever!
