Find My lets you view the location of your Apple devices, locate items you’ve attached AirTag to, keep track of Find My network accessories, and share your location with friends and family in a single, easy-to-use app.
Features
View the location of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, AirPods, devices in your Family Sharing group, AirTag, or Find My network accessories on a map, and get directions to their locations in Apple Maps.
When you can’t find your nearby device, AirTag, or Find My network accessory, play a sound to pinpoint its location. Get the distance and direction to your AirTag or AirPods Pro 2 with Precision Finding.
Keep track of personal items with AirTag and Find My network accessories and share these items with up to five other people. Everyone in the group can use Precision Finding to pinpoint the location of a shared AirTag when nearby.
If your missing device, AirTag, or compatible third-party accessory isn’t nearby, the Find My app can still help you track it down using the Find My network. It’s all anonymous and encrypted to protect everyone’s privacy.
If you lose an item, you can temporarily share its location with others — including airlines — to help you find it. Simply share item location in the Find My app. Sharing automatically stops when you are reunited with your item and expires after seven days. Share Item Location recipients can open shared links directly in the Find My app to play sound and, on supported devices, use Precision Finding to location lost items when nearby.
Put your Apple devices in lost mode to lock the screen and display a message, or erase them remotely to protect your data. AirTag and Find My network accessories can also display your contact information to anyone who finds them.
Use the People tab to share location with friends and family so you can keep in touch, coordinate, or know when a family member has arrived home safely.
Meeting up with people in-person is now easier too. With iPhone 15 or later, you can use Precision Finding for directions that lead you right up to the person you’re looking for, whether at a park, a restaurant, or even a music festival.
If you’re on an adventure without cell service or Wi‑Fi, you can use Find My on iPhone 14 or later to share your location over satellite.
On Apple Watch, use the Find Devices app to view the current location of your Apple devices, Find Items to keep track of AirTag and Find My network accessories, and Find People to share your location with friends and family members.

It was January 31st 2023 when I lost my AirPods. I was in school and I had my AirPods charging in a teachers classroom. It was the end of the day and I was on the bus. I instantly realized that I left my AirPods in the classroom. I let the teacher know through an email as soon as I realized. I come back the next day to find it missing and not on charge. I asked the teacher did she ever see it and she told me she didn’t. I searched around the entire school, hoping I get a connection using the “Find My iPhone” App, but I couldn’t. Everyday, I searched and tried to get a connection but failed. The administrators and teachers tried to help but they were not successful. I just lost hope because it’s been weeks and I still couldn’t find them. I payed towards $200 for those. After school ended and it was summer break, I got my first job and I had to remake the $200 for buying new AirPods. On July 21st 2023 is when I had enough money and bought them. Right now as I’m typing this, I’m still trying to figure out how my AirPods suddenly vanished. The Find My IPhone app showed it was still in the school building at the same location for months but it was nowhere to be found. I’m grateful that I found a job and was able to come up with the money to buy new ones. I love listening to music and I also love the noise cancellation feature. The Moral of this story is “Keep up with your belongings, because you will never know if you’ll loose it or see it again.”
Works. Better than nothing.

This app works well if you need it to find your gps tags and other devices. The con of this app is it requires cell service to work. No really it does. No wifi option. In all the years of apple this will not detect your gps device location on wifi. Some people live, work or travel in places that have poor cell service they rely more on internet instead of cell service. I love the gps tags but at a cost of privacy rights. My tags can give me quite the scare some times when it gpa drifts ow wifi pings to a much further location out of the blue. This has happened more than once when I walked away from my car. It keeps traveling up the road then stops. This makes you think your car was stolen when in reality it wasn’t. This glitch drives me crazy with worry when you shouldn’t have to worry. Ie its giving false tag data. Didn’t someone sue apple over this a long time ago because people thought their stolen phones were in his home and he didn’t have a single apple product. Well… this glitch makes you think twice where your devices are.The more I am paying attention to my devices I am noticing how much gps drift this thing has. It isn’t great. When i walk away from my car it does not register exactly where i left it. Google maps does better. I am annoyed with the constant notification from this app with no way to disable them. Yes i know i walked away from my car. No i don’t need to be repetitively reminded. I am opening up and disabling the chirp ad it is annoying. I also like to know where the car is when family members borrow it. I use one for my pets and i don’t want them startled when it goes off.
You can’t stop them

If someone, say.. your mother-in-law or an ex who hates you.. wants to be in your daily life, they can just add themselves to your Find My app. I enjoy checking on my small family before bed or first thing in the morning or while we are on a trip. It’s nice to be able to click the app and see that everyone is home at night or everyone is almost here for dinner. It’s like having all the chicks in the nest :) except there’s always that extra person who just keeps adding themself to your list. When everyone on the list is in a smaller area, like one town or within an hours drive, you can see fairly easily where they are. Then, EXTRA inserts themself into your group. Maybe they are in California and they want you to know where they are, but now the evening check time brings up a map of the entire United States. I don’t care that they are in California and I don’t need to see where they are, but now, I can’t as easily find out who is on their way to dinner or who is at home for the night. It is possible to remove them- THEY GET NOTIFIED and they promptly rejoin your list with no need for approval. I’m sure this is great for emergency when nobody was expecting to need to know and now everyone has knowledge of your last stop EXCEPT it doesn’t always work anyways
Lost AirPods
Lost case2319
I misplaced my AirPods a week ago and can’t find them anywhere so I went on the find my app. Last place scene was 3:30 at a park. Later that day I went to the park and the find my wasn’t letting me do the close range thing so I didn’t find them.(btw the icon for them was the AirPod case, at the time). After going to the park I locked the AirPods and told the app to notify me when found/ opened because that would update them and show me where they were. Next day I open the app to see two earbuds as the icon. Someone took my case and left the pods because they knew that the pods were tracked, and not the case. Find my dose t work. Honestly you would have an easier time just buying a new set upfront because You WULL NOT FIND THEM DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING FROM APPLE. I have now shifted my focus to eBay and Facebook market place trying to find a AirPod case posted a few days ago and trying to read the number on the case.WHY CANT THE CASE BE TRACKED. I know that the newest AirPod case is also tracked but why does Apple act like they can’t see where the case is at all times even when not opened for weeks. They think we think not. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And at this point it’s not a case I lost, it’s my manhood, my dignity and only desire. I need this case. It’s personal now. You think I care about the case. NO it’s not about the case, but about my mental health.
