Good, BUT….

I find the St George app generally very good- would normally give it a higher rating- lots of functionality and clear and easy navigation. Unfortunately it has a habit of freezing and dropping out every so often. This seems to happen for no particular reason- sometimes when one makes a simple transaction, moves to a new screen- or anything really. Recent examples include the dreaded wheel of death appearing for no reason; just now I went to move some funds between accounts and it went to a completely blank screen and couldn’t be reversed. It is solvable by deleting and reinstalling, but that’s such a waste of time. Please have a look at fixing this bug! Very frustrating! (And of course only happens when one’s in a hurry, at checkout or similar!).

Worthy !

I’ve been with St George for longer than I care to remember, before mobile banking was a concept even , so I’ve been able to enjoy the transition from HAVING to line up in queues for ages and writing cheques ! To pay bills to internet banking to now doing it all on the fly via my phone ...
Yes there will always be room for improvement as technology advances hopefully the people involved with this service will be on their game and keep up or better yet anticipate issues before they occur. Listen to the customer ! We’re not the problem. There can be too much automation too where between each dept information provided isn’t shared . So when this occurs the one who is disadvantaged is the customer WHO is just trying to do their mobile banking ... the whole organisation must realise that they are the SUM of ALL PARTS. Without us , the customers they are redundant .
So that aside - I’m very impressed with the mobile banking . Just feel there should be some real time contactability in case of customer issues . Even if by email for relevant dept.

Unintuitive, cluttered, missing critical features

This app deviates from tried and proven conventions in favour of random, difficult to interpret, hard to find ways of doing most things.

Instead of a settings cog, there is a counter-top-bell icon with “services” in tiny writing, containing a fine-typed list of approx 50 options grouped into 5 headings.

Features directly related to the app are missing from this list. For instance, you don’t seem to be able to choose quick balance accounts from inside here - you literally have to log out to do that. (This failed when I first attempted it from the login screen with an error, so I had removed that option from the login page). There is a hints and tips section which tells you this much, in another menu with three, large, concerning-looking dots on the main page, which also has no settings option, but instead some random, obscure menu options. And if you follow the suggestion to swipe right from the login page to add quick balance, that doesn’t work.

Eventually I discovered the settings-cog DOES exist… but only when logged out. Honestly, what a complete mess!

I get that one could get used to all of this and the app seems to have many functions, albeit in obscure and difficult to find places.

This really needs some cleaning up and refining, but sadly this generally costs banks so many millions of dollars to do, so it probably won’t happen.

Shame they won’t just consult an app development company and get it built well.
