I have a chronic illness and my Fitbit HR is so useful in so many ways. Helps me monitor what’s helping and what is not. Such as how fixing a B9,12 iron deficiency helped my step count and a dip in step count on autumn led me to discover my vitamin D was low. I use so many of the functions such as sleepMonitor to improve sleep, HR and steps to pace and the logging of food has really helped me keep healthy diet and also lose weight as I’ve not been so active and it’s helped stop calorific snacking. The period app is also really useful. I use this app more than any other and it’s really helped me manage a complex chronic illness. So useful. Best health buy I’ve made and the app is so easy to use. The app is free to try to see if it could be useful before buying a Fitbit, which is what I did. I got a Fitbit HR specifically do I could monitor sleep. If it adds a function to analyse vitamin intake from diet and supplements this would be amazing. It’s the only thing I think is lacking. At the moment it’s focussed on calories and carbs/protein/fat which is great for following keto diets, but I’d really like it to work out my vitamin intake to help me improve my deficiencies more naturally than supplements. Excellent app and device. Highly recommended. Used it non stop over 18 months now.
blind user
Gary and his guide dog
I got my first Fitbit in 2014 and still have the Fitbit one as it does all I have ever needed it to do but sadly in the last update as a blind user I access the Fitbit one via the app on my phone sadly in the last update when using the VoiceOver accessibility feature on my iPhone I can no longer read the sections which were read out such as steps floors calories total distance now as I flick along it says today button and a sighted person tells me when you reach the today button there is a drop-down which is obviously a graphic or image display showing your stats but this is no longer readable by the iPhone VoiceOver accessibility which really now does make my Fitbit one redundant I could get a Fitbit watch but being blind could not read the screen anyway so could not use any of the smart watch features from the watch and again if the only way to access that information is by the app then if the latest update is the same then I would not be able to read and hear the stats that I would wish to a very sad day when a piece of kit becomes redundant due to changes made by the manufacturer but never the less I have enjoyed using the Fitbit I do not wish to wear a watch as part of my work means it would get damaged and would not wear it much during the day the ideal option was the Fitbit one which could simply clip to a pocket or belt and gather all that information kind regards Gary

I have enjoyed the Fitbit and all its features it is brilliant for a number of other things as I have mentioned before in a previous review. After having Fitbit for a few years since then my only bother with it is premium adds are really taking over and spoiling the concept as a whole, yes we get it after spending a tonne on the devices you would like us to spend more to use it to its full potential; yes it is predictable you would lock 9 out of 10 features to access because typical, but since the further assertive advertisement being on every page especially the food log, almost all the food I search does not load anymore and I have to make due with anything that may load that if I’m lucky it might resemble the food I have eaten; not so easy when the vegan selection is limited on this app also. As requested before it would be awesome if we as customers could have a product scanner suggestions box somewhere to increase the selection and we can enter a link so it is easier for you to locate the item.Unfortunately since the premium and recipe adds have come in it takes longer for nutritional information to count up... if at all, as well as randomly putting food in my log that I haven’t eaten nor selected; this is generally an issue across each area now ie water consumption, steps... it goes on.This is all slowing down my motivation, I have now inconsistent results of maintaining my personal goals I achieved last year. Please let my Fitbit breath,Good quality products don’t need to advertise especially if it is at the cost of the quality.
Upgrades are horrid
LPUK26
I only came on here to see whether other people had the same thoughts about the upgrade or whether I was just being a bit cranky, thank goodness they do!! Surely upgrades should improve the look and performance of an app. These upgrades are a BIG step back and there’s no way to even switch back to the previous version. They’ve also only done half a job - the landing screen has been upgraded but when you click into the information it’s still the old (better) look and feel. Just feels like two different interfaces cobbled together - not what you’d expect from a professional company. My Fitbit Luxe has been slowly dying after 2 years, the battery now lasting barely a day. I had been looking at replacing it as I was generally very happy with it. I had considered getting an Apple watch but it was the Fitbit app that was making me reluctant to switch. Unfortunately now I’m going to have to reconsider that. Update 16/10: Over the past 4 years I’ve been religious about making sure my Fitbit is ALWAYS charged so I don’t miss any steps and that I can beat the last week’s targets. I never took it off and wouldn’t consider going out for a walk if it was about to lose charge. I realised today that I haven’t bothered charging it for the last 2 - 3 weeks - partially because it doesn’t hold charge anymore but partially because of this awful app update which doesn’t encourage me to use it. Such a shame 😕 Update 02/02: I got an Apple Watch for Christmas, yay it’s loads better!
