App says, “The email address provided is already in our system. Please provide another address.” It was entered correctly. I am the only one on the planet with this address as far as I know. I have had this address since the mid 2,000’s. I have never encountered this before. I have never had any association of any kind with Nissan before. I have never driven a Nissan vehicle before, let alone owned one. This app is dead in the water before it even got started.UPDATE: Turns out, the dealer had registered my email address but neglected to tell me or provide the password. It took a good 30-40 minutes on the phone with customer service to straighten it out, and it wasn’t easy. In the end, I was finally able to reset a password and get signed in. I recommend doing this on a PC, not a mobile device if anyone else encounters this. So far, the app is interesting, but there is a learning curve. I’ve had the car less than a week, and the app has been useful to monitor charging at home. At first, it would fail to update on reopening. Had to sign out and sign back in to make that happen. But now the reload button is doing the job.

The biggest complaint is that the app is very slow to update, whether attempting to get your current state of charge, turning on climate controls, etc. at least a recent update changed the app so opening it will automatically refresh its status, which was a good move. Sadly, you cannot select the color of the Leaf in the app to match your own. Why not?I wish that I could also set up charge schedules from the app. For instance, if I have a charge schedule for 7pm-10pm every day, but want to add more charge outside of those hours, I could either go into the car and disable the timer, or hit “start charging” on the app, but I can’t set a timer within the app. I should be able to select a charge time or percentage from within the app. The widget controls and Apple Watch controls are essentially useless - they take multiple times longer to update and often don’t work.

The app lists a disconnected phone number for Nissan Roadside Assistance. If you want the correct phone number you have to look it up in a web browser. Another problem with the app is you can’t set the Nissan Leaf charging function to stop in the app. You can turn charging on but not off. This may be a fault of the car design. You would think Nissan could have engineered this into the second generation Leafs. Mine is a 2023. Would be nice if you could set to charge to 80 or 90 percent charge. But nope. Climate control options work well. You can set up a temperature remotely, use a timer, or turn it off. Charging should be the same, ideally.

I have completed the process and Nissan emailed me and said my car was accepted into the Nissan connect program. However, every time I try to login on the app it request the Vin number which is a 17 digit number character string having to enter it repeatedly is not that easy.I have done this at least 10 times and every time it says that VIN number is already added. It will not let me access the app by just logging in. It keeps asking for the VIN number over and over again and giving me the same message that we already entered. So I effectively I’ve never been able to use the app. In addition, there is no option on the home screen to contact for any kind of support or help. Thirdly whoever designed the low contrast, black background with dark blue text log out and send buttons at the top of the page probably hadn’t had a lot of Design training. It’s almost invisible.
