MacFamilyTree has been a must-have tool for genealogy buffs for nearly 25 years, capturing where our families have been, who we are, and where we’re going. The 10th major version, released this year, was even more of a treasure.

Interactive 3D models you won’t find in any other app or service bring your family’s history vividly to life. Spin the Virtual Globe to pinpoint cities and towns where relatives have lived—and migrated between—over the decades. Or use the Person View to remember individuals by browsing immigration documents, job histories, awards, and other ephemera.

Want something more personal? Turn dates and data into a written narrative. (Just go to the Reports section and click Narrative.) Got a box full of photos or documents in the attic? Use the app’s machine-learning tools to scan, enhance, and colorize them. Grandma’s prom pics never looked so good!

Record major life moments, cute baby pics, and details like eye color and blood type.
